Job description

Position Summary:

Safely and properly operate machinery essential to the production of food products at Summer Garden Food Manufacturing. Process all fresh ingredients and dry ingredients in the most efficient way possible as to not affect the daily Master Production Schedule in an adverse manner. All Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) procedures must be followed at all times.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Safely and properly changeover and operate any equipment located in the immediate work area.
  • Properly and thoroughly clean and sanitize the immediate work area.
  • Fill in each Food Prep position when needed in fresh/dry/processing room/tomato room.
  • Perform operator level adjustments and preventative maintenance on equipment located in the immediate work area.
  • Successful and accurate completion of all paperwork and touch screen entries.
  • Safe operation and knowledge of work environment equipment butter cutter, butter melter, tote dump, mix tank and knowledge of recipes.
  • Participate in the SGFM training program which includes training all employees in your immediate work area.
  • Working knowledge of weights, weight cans, barrels, totes, measurements, measurement conversions, and recipes and their ability to read.
  • Run totes of finished mixes to the kettles.
  • Able to track lot codes for traceability.
  • To CIP tanks and to up process line for CIP
  • Clean out tanks when required and clean and sanitize all processing equipment.
  • Build a team environment within the immediate work area and throughout the SGFM organization.
  • Follow safety regulations and procedures required by SGFM/Quality/SQF/GMP’s/OSHA regulations/Preventative Controls.
  • Operate a forklift and Pallet Jack as required to move pallets around and off the lines. (In house certification will be provided)
  • Ability to work under pressure while multi-tasking.
  • Follow instructions and goals set by their supervisor.

All other necessary duties as assigned by Supervisor:

In the absence of an employee for this position, the management team will delegate the responsibilities to the remaining staff to ensure that all food safety & quality responsibilities are fulfilled.



Requirements Necessary to Perform This Job Function: (Educational & Physical)

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Frequent lifting of material up to and including 80 pounds.
  • Ability to push and pull materials up to 500-600 pounds.
  • Able to read and write English fluently
  • Basic mathematic and reading.
  • Regularly required to talk, hear and see
  • Frequently required to stand, walk and bend.
  • Manual dexterity with ability to reach with hands and arms.
  • Climbing ladders and stairs often.
  • Able to work in both hot/humid (in excess of 110 degrees F) and cold (below -20 degrees F) environments.
  • Able to bend and go under conveyers.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and flex hours to production needs.



Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the food/beverage industry (if necessary)
  • Previous experience in Manufacturing or production environment (if necessary)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

This position requires sufficient physical ability to work in a production setting.


FREQUENT: Ability to talk and hear; ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, stoop, bend, and/or crouch; push/pull; lift up to 50 pounds; use of hands and fingers to operate machinery/equipment and all manual and electronic equipment in the area of responsibility. Exposure to wet and humid conditions and fluctuations in ambient temperature (seasonal).


OCCASIONAL: Squatting, kneeling, ability to reach above and at shoulder height. Ability to wear a dust mask, and perform Confined Entry using LOTO program. Exposure to toxic and corrosive chemicals.


VISION: Ability to use close and distance vision, as well as color and peripheral vision with or without correction. Must be able to visually detect obstacles and potential dangers in a fast-paced production environment involving high-speed equipment and powered industrial lift equipment.


HEARING: Ability to hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Exposure to noise levels from pumps, machinery, forklift traffic, bottle lines, and exhaust fans.
