Ahlstrom Rhinelander is currently looking for a Certified Journeyman Mechanical Maintenance Technician at our Rhinelander Facility. This position is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and overhaul of mechanical equipment and systems throughout the paper mill. This role supports safe, efficient, and reliable mill operations by maintaining production equipment, utilities, and support systems to maximize uptime and product quality. The technician applies advanced mechanical skills to identify root causes of equipment failures and perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain paper mill production equipment, including:
    • Paper machines
    • Conveyors
    • Pumps and piping systems
    • Bearings and gearboxes
    • Rollers and drives
    • Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
    • Agitators and mixers
    • Compressors and vacuum systems
  • Adhere to all safety, environmental, and company policies.
  • Follow all OSHA regulations and company safety procedures.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Identify and report safety hazards, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
  • Participate in safety meetings, audits, and training programs.
  • Perform all work in a manner that promotes a safe workplace

Required Qualifications
  • Journeyman-level mechanical maintenance, pipefitter, or millwright certification,
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Ability to work required work schedule including overtime.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and maintenance tools.
  • Basic computer skills and experience using CMMS software. Ability to organize, plan and prioritize work assignments in order to complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Must follow Ahlstrom's manufacturing and hygiene processes, procedures and policies, as applicable to the position's areas of responsibility, in order to meet and maintain the safety, quality, and regulatory compliance requirements for each grade of paper
