Job description

Farmers Branch, TX | $20–$25/hr | Full-Time

We are hiring a Slitter / Converting Machine Operator for a long-term opportunity with a growing manufacturing operation in Farmers Branch.

Direct slitter experience is preferred, but NOT required. We are especially interested in experienced machine operators from printing, paper, film, labels, flexible packaging, or other converting environments. Candidates with strong mechanical aptitude and transferable machine-operation experience may be trained.


What You'll Do

  • Set up and operate slitting/converting equipment
  • Convert large master rolls into smaller finished rolls according to work orders and specifications
  • Set and adjust slitting knives, spacers, roll widths and machine parameters
  • Monitor tension, alignment and cutting performance
  • Measure finished roll widths and diameters to ensure specifications are met
  • Inspect finished rolls for wrinkles, edge damage, uneven cuts and other defects
  • Load/unload large rolls using forklifts, hoists or roll-handling equipment
  • Record run time, roll counts, waste and downtime
  • Perform routine cleaning and basic machine maintenance
  • Maintain a safe, organized production area


What We're Looking For

  • 2+ years of machine operating experience preferred
  • Slitting or converting experience is highly preferred, but not mandatory
  • Printing/converting experience is a major plus
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
  • Able to read work orders, measurements and production specifications
  • Strong attention to quality, accuracy and tolerances
  • Forklift experience preferred or willingness to become certified
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs. and work on your feet in a manufacturing environment
  • Reliable attendance and willingness to learn are essential


Experience We Want to See

  • Candidates with experience as a Slitter Operator, Slitter/Rewinder Operator, Converting Machine Operator, Printing Press Operator, Flexographic Press Operator, Web Press Operator, Rewinder Operator, Laminator Operator, Coating Machine Operator, Sheeter Operator, Paper Converting Operator, or Film Converting Operator are strongly encouraged to apply.


Pay: $20.00–$25.00 per hour, depending on experience.

  • Experienced slitter/converting operators may qualify toward the higher end of the range. Trainees with strong transferable machine-operation experience will also be considered.
