SKC Production Machine Assistant (NIGHT SHIFT) – Edison, NJ

About Specialty Kraft Converters
Specialty Kraft Converters (SKC) is a privately owned domestic supplier of insulation vapor retarders and facings.  We primarily supply residential building insulation manufacturers with printed and asphalt coated paper substrates. SKC is currently seeking full-time Production Machine Assistants to join our organization.  The manufacturing plant schedule is 7AM – 7PM and 7PM – 7AM, 4 to 5 days per week. Ambient temperature could be 95 – 100F during summer months.

·         $20.25/hr to start (PLUS $.75 Night Shift Differential) ($21.00/hr NIGHTS) to start; Increase to $22.10/HOUR (Plus $0.75 Differential) after (90) DAY Probationary Period.

About the position
The Production Machine Assistant is a starting position with the company.  New employees typically work a few weeks on day shift to train before transitioning to night shift.  New employees are trained as machine helpers and work in a support role of the machine operator processing coated Kraft paper materials and laminations.
New employees who successfully adapt to the work environment, job duties and safety culture of SKC, can bid to fill open positions within the company as new opportunities become available.
The work requires physical exertion, the ability to learn and follow instructions, a keen eye for safety, some mechanical ability and a positive attitude.  We are a company of dedicated individuals with a sense of urgency who will do whatever is required to supply our customers.
About the typical workday
You will keep busy opening raw materials, helping to load the raw materials on the machine, unloading the finished product, cleaning up, changing over to other products and doing what it takes to keep the equipment running.  There are periods of down time and intense periods of work.  Staying busy is a key attribute to help balance the workflow.
Qualifications
Forklift Experience and Production Machinery Operation Are Required At A Minimum.

We will train you to operate various stations of our main production machine progressively. The job requires some heavy lifting (up to 70lbs.), the ability to stand for extended periods of time, bend, reach, stretch, twist and squat. Excellent communication skills and general proficiency with computers are required to manage the process.  You must be able to read both a standard and metric tape measure and use it accurately.
