Wage: Starting at $36.59, automatic raises every 6 months till you reach top pay, then annual raises thereafter. Additional $1.50 for shift differential. Top rate $44.07

Job Title: Printing 1st Press Operator

Shift: Nights 11pm-7am

Position Purpose:

Operates assigned and support equipment, including extruders, printers, metalizers, laminators, cutters, and gluers in a safe and efficient manner by performing make-ready and ensuring that production and quality levels meet established standards.

Independent judgment is necessary. 

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

 
  1. Observes company safety rules and complies with safety practices.  Able to monitor area for safety hazards, as well as secure area during an emergency.
  2. Must be proficient in all 2nd Pressman duties.
  3. Must remain proficient in all Press Operator duties
  4. Ensures that product quality, production efficiencies, and scrap rates meet or exceed established standards.  Actively supports and uses quality control procedures (including SAP) that are in place.
  5. Operates assigned equipment in a safe and efficient manner and is responsible for shift production
  6. Directs activities of team operating assigned equipment when required.
  7. Identifies and resolves process and equipment problems, while continually striving to develop and implement improvements.
  8. Notifies management of potential problems and offers solutions to same.
  9. Prepares accurate production, inventory, and material usage reports.
  10. Performs and directs make-ready on assigned equipment.
  11. Performs preventive maintenance as required.
  12. Displays work habits that set example for peers
  13. Trains new employees in proper operating procedure.
  14. Performs general housekeeping functions in assigned areas.

  15. Responsible for compliance with all facility food safety, food defense, and quality policies and procedures including product safety (GMPs)/Sanitation policies and procedures.  Employee must continually work to promote the orderliness and cleanliness of their work area in support of AIB/5S and other company standards.

  16. Must be supportive of GPI's Mission, Vision, and Core Values (Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships, and Teamwork).

  17. Must be supportive and involved in GPI efforts for LEAN, 5S, Six Sigma and other Continuous Improvement programs and processes.

  18. Performs all other duties as assigned.

  19. Strives to clearly understand customer requirements and delivers results to meet or exceed customer expectations.

  20. Ability and responsibility to stop any process that is not meeting food safety requirements.

Frequent/strenuous physical effort (e.g., lifting, moving heavy objects, etc.) required.  Conditions frequently involve noise, fumes, and hazardous chemicals

Graphic Packaging International is on a 7-day continuous operation.  Must be able to work overtime as required.
