Job description

CONTROLS, BUILDING SYSTEMS & INTEGRATED TESTING LEAD

We are seeking a Controls, Building Systems & Integrated Testing Lead to own commissioning of control systems and the fully integrated behavior of a large mission-critical facility. This includes building management systems, electrical power monitoring systems, SCADA, and automation interfaces across power, cooling, and life-safety. This is a staff role within a newly formed commissioning team with long-term career potential.

This position is at the site in Regina, Saskatchewan. 14 days on / 7 days off rotation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead controls commissioning including point-to-point verification, I/O checks, addressing, and functional validation for all control devices and panels
  • Validate sequences of operation for electrical and mechanical systems ensuring they are testable, correctly implemented, and aligned with design intent and owner requirements
  • Confirm alarm logic, trends, and operator interfaces are configured correctly in BMS, EPMS, and SCADA systems including thresholds, priorities, and notification routing
  • Contribute to integrated systems test scenarios combining power, cooling, and controls events, ensuring preconditions are met and test outcomes are properly captured and interpreted
  • Work closely with the equipment integration lead to ensure vendor-supplied control panels and devices integrate cleanly into site control systems
  • Document IST results and controls commissioning artifacts in a format that operations teams and owners can rely on for future troubleshooting and system tuning

What We Are Looking For

  • Strong background in controls, BMS, or EPMS engineering or commissioning in mission-critical or industrial facilities
  • Deep understanding of sequences of operation, cause and effect matrices, alarm strategies, and integrated system behavior
  • Experience participating in or supporting integrated systems tests for large facilities
  • Ability to quickly identify when overall system behavior is unacceptable even when individual devices are passing their individual checks
  • Clear communication skills with the ability to explain complex control system behavior to engineers, operators, and owners

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years in controls or BMS commissioning or engineering for mission-critical or industrial facilities
  • Degree or diploma in controls, electrical, mechanical, or systems engineering or equivalent experience
  • Familiarity with major BMS, EPMS, and SCADA platforms used in large facilities
  • Experience reading sequences of operation and cause and effect matrices
  • Relevant certifications such as CxA, BCxP, or vendor controls certifications are an asset
  • BMS and EPMS platform to be confirmed during project development
  • Candidates need to understand cause and effect matrices but are not required to write or modify sequences of operation
  • This role will support L5 IST execution rather than lead it independently
  • Industrial controls and BMS experience is welcomed alongside data centre backgrounds
