Turtle Rock Preschool, a premier NAEYC-accredited school in Irvine, has an immediate opening for a skilled, dependable painter to help maintain the appearance and condition of our indoor and outdoor campus spaces.
This is a flexible, part-time position focused specifically on painting, staining, and ongoing touch-up work. It may be an especially good fit for an experienced painting professional seeking flexible, part-time work.
Responsibilities:
- Perform interior and exterior painting throughout the school campus
- Complete routine touch-ups to walls, doors, trim, cabinets, railings, fences, play structures, and other painted surfaces
- Apply wood stain, sealant, and protective finishes to indoor and outdoor wood surfaces
- Identify areas needing touch-up, repainting, staining, or preventative maintenance
- Protect floors, furniture, landscaping, playground equipment, and surrounding surfaces during projects
- Maintain an organized inventory of paints, stains, brushes, rollers, and related supplies -and properly label and safely store paint and other materials
- Keep work areas clean, orderly, and safe, with thorough cleanup after each project
- Coordinate projects and scheduling with the school's handyman
- Recommend appropriate, durable, low-odor, and child-safe products for a preschool environment
- Complete projects carefully and efficiently while minimizing disruption to school operations
Schedule:
This position requires flexibility based on the location and nature of each project:
- Outdoor work may be completed during the daytime, afternoons, or evenings on weekdays
- Work inside classrooms must be completed during weekday evenings or at any time on weekends when children are not present
- Additional work may be available during school closures, holidays, and campus improvement projects
- Hours will vary depending on current needs, with an estimated 5-15 hours per week
Job Requirements:
- Prior professional or extensive hands-on experience with interior and exterior painting
- Strong knowledge of surface preparation, paint application, wood staining, sealing, and finish selection
- Ability to produce clean, precise work with close attention to detail
- Ability to match existing colors and finishes
- Dependable, punctual, organized, and able to work independently
- Comfortable working on an active preschool campus and following all school safety procedures
- Able to safely use ladders and painting equipment and perform the physical requirements of the position, including lifting, bending, reaching, and standing for extended periods
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to provide basic painting tools and equipment preferred
- Availability for occasional projects on short notice
- Must successfully complete all school-required background checks and clearances
This is a part-time/contract position, requiring flexibility in hours.
