Auto Body Paint Technician
*** POSITION IS FOR LOUISVILLE, KY ***

Company Overview:
We’re a successful and fast growing company based in Louisville, Kentucky. We’re growing rapidly, undergoing a national expansion. In the past five years, we’ve grown from 60 employees to over 400. We’ve averaged 50% revenue growth each year over the past 8 years. We’re looking for a Automotive Detailer to help play an important part in our growth. You will enjoy working as part of a team and have unique opportunities to grow within a fast paced company.
Purpose:
To support the Car Care Express reconditioning line of business by repairing and painting cosmetic damage.
Position Summary:
The Auto Body Paint Technician will be responsible for repairing and painting automotive cosmetic damage in both solvent and water based base coat/clear coat systems. Our Auto Body Paint Technicians receive all the tools and supplies needed for the job.
Duties Critical to Success:
  • Surface Preparation: Prepare vehicle surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, masking, and applying primer and filler to ensure a smooth, flawless finish.
  • Paint Application: Mix and match paint colors to a high degree of accuracy. Apply paint, clear coat, and other finishes using professional spray equipment to achieve a high-quality, factory-like appearance.
  • Damage Repair: Perform a variety of repairs on damaged vehicle parts, including body filler application, dent removal, panel straightening, and component replacement.
  • Disassembly and Reassembly: Carefully disassemble and reassemble vehicle components, such as bumpers, doors, and trim as required for repair and painting processes.
  • Quality Control: Conduct thorough inspections of all work to ensure it meets our rigorous quality standards. Identify and correct any imperfections or defects before the vehicle is returned to the customer.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Clean and maintain all tools, spray guns, and equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and ensure compliance with environmental regulations for paint and chemical disposal.
  • Documentation: Accurately document all repair work, materials used, and time spent on each job.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Critical to Success:
  • Capable to learn new techniques and technologies related to reconditioning.
  • Physically Fit:
    • Able to lift and hold boxes or equipment up to 50 lbs.
    • Able to work extended periods of time outdoors.
    • Able to enter and exit elevated van doors 30-40 times daily.
    • Able to lift car hoods, disconnect batteries, enter and exit other vehicles, etc.
    • Able to squat, kneel, bend, etc. as required.
  • Strong communication skills including the ability to relay information to corporate, allowing the Account Manager to perform their role to the best of their ability.
  • I-CAR, ASE, or other relevant certifications are not required, but highly preferred.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Strong knowledge of automotive paint systems, including base coats, clear coats, and paint mixing.
    • Expertise in color matching and blending techniques.
    • Proficiency with body repair tools and equipment, including sanding machines, body fillers, and welding equipment.

  • 8 hour work days.
  • 100% accurate time clock punches.
  • 100% inventory accuracy.
Relations to Supervisory and Subordinating Roles Within the Company:
  • Immediate Supervisor: Territory Manager, Operations Managers

Job Requirements:
  • 21 years of age with a valid Driver's License.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of automotive paint repair experience.
  • Professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Determination and work ethic to succeed.
  • General computer skills and knowledge.
  • Work in all elements of weather.
  • Excellent communication skills, self-motivated, and demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Sales and customer service experience.
  • Regularly required to stand and walk.
  • Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat, climb and perform repetitive motion tasks.
  • Ability to lift and hold boxes or equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Vision abilities required including close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Frequent exposure to toxic chemicals.
  • Moderate noise level.
  • Respirators must be worn and other PPE may be required.

Compensation:
As a technician you will have a base salary, plus a generous commission structure. In addition to your base salary and commission, you will have the opportunity to earn additional compensation through bonuses. The average salary is 65-85k a year.
