D&G Machine supplies several Nationwide Industries that include: Aerospace, Computer Chip Production, Defense Contracts, Medical, Power Generation, and Maine’s Paper Industry.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Industrial Painter is responsible for cleaning, preparing, and painting surfaces of manufactured products. The Industrial Painter cleans nozzles, containers, and hoses of paint machines, adheres to safety standards and regulations, and assists with preparing the final product for shipment.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • None

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Prepare surfaces to be coated by using various methods such as sandblasting, hand sanding, cleaning with solvent and wiping with a clean cloth.
  • Performs spray coatings, such as paint, two-part epoxy and/or other specialty coatings, onto manufactured products to provide finished surfaces.
  • Performs wet film inspections of painted items between coats.
  • Inspects finished paint using dry film gauges.
  • Operates and maintains paint spray booth.
  • Touches up areas of painted items as needed.
  • Cleans nozzles, containers, and hoses of machines.
  • Operates common material handling equipment such as hand trucks, powered pallet jacks, powered industrial trucks, and overhead cranes to manipulate large, fabricated parts into proper position for painting.
  • Complies with chemical and waste storage and disposal regulations and best practices.
  • Utilizes different painting techniques based on the nature of the surface.
  • Mixes paint when needed and uses paint manufacturers spec sheet recommendations for proper paint mixing techniques and layering drying times.
  • Ensures proper ventilation during and after the paint is applied.
  • Adheres to safety standards and regulations.
  • Assists with preparing final product for shipment.
Requirements:

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-3 years of industrial or automotive paint experience preferred.
  • Ability to operate airless and air spray equipment and ability to mix paint.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and specifications required.
  • Must be able to work in a team-based environment.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and have a strong attention to detail.
  • Must be able to wear a respirator, have excellent dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to comprehend paint manufacturers recommendations regarding proper mixing techniques and layering drying times.
  • Must be able to distinguish among colors.
  • Must pass a post-employment offer drug screen and background check.
