Job description

Ameristar Perimeter Security USA, an ASSA ABLOY branded company, is looking for a Paint Tech.  This position will be responsible for maintaining all functions of the coating's operation from chemicals to the actual coating process. It also includes quality checks and following all proper PPE policies. 

What you will be doing:

  • Responsible Associate needed to take ownership of the E-Coat or Powder coat process area.
  • Associate is responsible for working with little supervision and cares about attention to detail.
  • Perform routine quality checks and titrations.
  • Associate Responsible for PM related items within control.
  • Responsible for dealing with hazardous waste and complying with all storm water policies.
  • Responsible for following all SOPs provided when in facility.
  • Safe Storage of all paint and paint solvent materials in designated grounded and bonded flammable cabinets.
  • Ability and willingness to be cross trained in other Paint Operations areas as needed.
  • Required to wear company provided PPE including but not limited to pulmonary respirator protection. 
  • We will have several training requirements to advance your knowledge of our coating operations.  

The skills and experience you need:

Education:

  • High School or GED Equivalent
  • Trade School

Experience:

  • Understands all Safety and Environmental regulations / safety concerns with the use of Industrial Pretreatment Chemicals, Industrial paints, including the grounding and bonding process while liquid or powder painting occurs. 
  • Familiar with the use of Respirators and our Fresh Air Paint hoods.
  • General paint knowledge is preferred but optional.
  • Ability to Read Pretreatment & Paint Safety data sheets and technical data sheets.
  • Experience with storm water permits or wastewater functions.
  • Experience with Paint Pots, Paint hoses, paint guns and general painting equipment.
  • Track Paint and solvent usage and ability to document.
  • Paint booth and Paint booth filter knowledge. Ability to perform PMs on booth filters and document filter change outs.
