Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced Paint Estimator to lead the estimating and bid preparation process for complex, multi-million-dollar projects and infrastructure painting projects. This role requires deep technical knowledge of how to read blue prints, work in new construction, coatings, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate with project managers, operations teams, and executive leadership to deliver accurate, competitive, and profitable estimates.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for large-scale painting and coating projects ranging from thousands to million to tens of millions of dollars
  • Able to read and interpret BLUE PRINTS
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, bid documents, and site conditions to determine labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs
  • Perform comprehensive quantity takeoffs for surface preparation, coatings systems, scaffolding, lifts, containment, and specialty access
  • Evaluate project risks, productivity factors, and schedule constraints to develop realistic pricing strategies
  • Solicit, analyze, and negotiate pricing from suppliers and subcontractors
  • Develop value-engineering options and alternate pricing when appropriate
  • Collaborate closely with project management and operations teams to align estimates with execution strategies
  • Participate in bid reviews, management presentations, and client discussions
  • Maintain historical cost data and continuously refine estimating models and assumptions
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements, safety standards, and industry regulations
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 7–10 years of experience in paint or coatings estimating for large commercial or industrial projects
  • Proven experience estimating multi-million-dollar projects (bridges, tanks, industrial plants, high-rise buildings, infrastructure, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of surface preparation methods, coating systems, and industry standards
  • Proficiency in estimating software and tools (e.g., Excel, On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, or similar platforms)
  • Ability to read and interpret complex construction drawings, BLUE PRINTS and specifications
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple bids under tight deadlines
Preferred Skills & Experience:
  • Experience with design-build and negotiated contracts
  • Familiarity with environmental and containment requirements
  • Understanding of labor productivity modeling and crew planning
  • Background working with general contractors, owners, or public agencies
