Job description

About VitalCare

VitalCare Health Services is a telehealth provider supporting skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) and long-term care organizations. Our platform connects facility clinicians with experienced physicians to ensure timely treatment decisions and appropriate pain management for patients in post-acute and long-term care settings.

We are expanding our Pain Management Review Team and are seeking licensed physicians in Texas, Oklahoma, and Missouri to provide clinical oversight and prescribing support for facility providers managing complex pain cases.

Position Overview

Pain Team Physicians provide rapid clinical review of consults submitted by facility providers. Facility clinicians evaluate the patient and submit documentation through the VitalCare platform. The Pain Team Physician reviews the consult, confirms clinical appropriateness, and issues prescriptions when indicated.

This role is designed to be efficient and flexible, allowing physicians to provide specialty oversight without traditional clinic responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Review pain management consults submitted by facility providers
  • Evaluate clinical documentation, patient history, and treatment recommendations
  • Assess appropriateness of medications, including controlled substances when clinically indicated
  • Approve, modify, or deny prescription requests with supporting rationale
  • Generate and electronically sign prescriptions when appropriate
  • Document clinical decision-making within the VitalCare platform
  • Ensure compliance with state prescribing laws and clinical best practices

Requirements

  • Active medical license in Texas, Oklahoma, or Missouri
  • Active DEA registration
  • Board certification or eligibility in a relevant specialty (Pain Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, PM&R, or related field)
  • Experience managing chronic pain or complex medication regimens
  • Strong understanding of safe opioid prescribing practices
  • Comfort reviewing documentation and making clinical determinations remotely
  • Telehealth or long-term care experience preferred but not required

Compensation

  • Per-consult compensation model
  • Competitive rates based on volume and availability
  • Flexible scheduling with asynchronous consult review

Why Join VitalCare

  • Fully remote work
  • Flexible schedule with no traditional clinic hours
  • Efficient consult workflow designed for rapid review
  • Opportunity to support providers in skilled nursing facilities
  • No patient panel management or administrative clinic burden
