Goldfish Swim School is seeking applicants for a Swim Instructor/Lifeguard in Manchester, CT
Job summary: The Swim Instructor is responsible for instructing students on water safety and proper swim techniques based on thorough knowledge of the Goldfish Swim School curriculum. 
Duties and responsibilities: 
  • Provides one-on-one swim instruction with students based on the GSS curriculum. 
  • Evaluates student progress and submits daily reports. 
  • Acts as a GSS "ambassador" with parents/guardians on the development of students' swim skills. 
  • When lifeguarding, maintains attentive position in the pool area at all times.
  • Makes rescues and administers first aid/CPR when necessary. 
  • Provides assistance to students and teachers as needed.
  • Enforces safety rules and regulations and follows reporting procedures.
  • Attend workshops and in-service training outside of regular working hours. 
  • Fulfills other duties or responsibilities as assigned by the Employer. 
Basic qualifications:
  • No prior swim experience necessary, but a willingness to learn and have fun is a must
  • Ability to work with children
  • 16 years or older
Preferred qualifications: 
  • CPR/AED or Lifeguard certification, if you are not already certified it will be provided during training.
  • Experience working as a certified lifeguard, youth sports instructor, camp counselor and/or childcare provider. 
Work environment: Swim instructors spend the majority of their working time in the pool with students. While performing this job, the employee is regularly exposed to heat and humidity.  Noise level is usually moderate.
