Calvin Giordano & Associates, a SAFEbuilt company, is currently seeking a talented and experienced Project Engineer to join our team of professionals. This position offers great opportunity for dynamic, motivated self-starters to work on a variety of work assignments. You'll be a member of our highly respected team of professionals with a full complement of resources to support you and exciting projects to keep you challenged.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Collaborate with engineers and architects to prepare bid documents including plans and specifications for projects.
  • Perform in-house design work for roadways, stormwater, and water and sewer.
  • Coordinate with all relevant parties to obtain permits and licenses from appropriate regulatory agencies.
  • Participate and collaborate with consultants and regulatory agencies related to various programs the city participates in, such as NPDES, CRS, etc.
  • Coordinate with internal resources and third parties/vendors for successful execution of projects and delivered on-time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Develop projects scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
  • Ensure resource availability and allocation.
  • Use appropriate verification techniques to mange changes in project scope, schedule, and costs.
  • Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools, and techniques.
  • Report and escalate project issues and concerns to management, as needed.
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
  • Coordinate with contractors and other staff and escalate issues and concerns, as needed.
  • Evaluate progress of projects and prepare detailed reports.
  • Monitor and evaluate contractor performance. Monitor work in progress to identify problems, ensure work is organized, and efficient for a quality work product.
  • Perform related duties as required.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:
  • In-depth understanding of engineering / architectural project elements from design through to construction which includes, but is not limited to planning, design, permitting, bid and construction phases.
  • Engineering and construction management principles.
  • Organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software suite and AutoCAD
  • Familiarity with construction scheduling/project management software
  • Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications
  • Outstanding communication skills for both internal and client-facing situations

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in engineering and/or construction.
  • Possess a valid Florida Driver's License
