What is a paid plumbing apprentice?

A Paid Plumbing Apprentice is an entry-level worker who is employed to learn the plumbing trade under the supervision of experienced plumbers while earning a wage. Apprentices receive on-the-job training and often attend classroom instruction to learn the skills and knowledge required to become a licensed plumber. Their duties typically include assisting with installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems, as well as learning about safety protocols and plumbing codes. This paid position is a pathway to becoming a journeyman or master plumber after completing the required hours of training and passing any necessary exams.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a paid plumbing apprentice?

To thrive as a Paid Plumbing Apprentice, you need a basic understanding of plumbing systems, manual dexterity, and a high school diploma or equivalent, often supported by enrollment in a formal apprenticeship program. Familiarity with hand and power tools, safety equipment, and plumbing codes is important, and OSHA safety certification is often required. Strong problem-solving skills, a willingness to learn, and effective communication help apprentices adapt and work efficiently alongside journeymen plumbers. These skills and qualities ensure safe, high-quality work and successful progression in the plumbing trade.

Do I get paid if I do a paid plumbing apprenticeship?

Yes, paid plumbing apprenticeships provide a wage or stipend to apprentices while they learn on the job and complete related technical training. The pay rate typically increases as the apprentice gains experience and skills, and many programs are designed to support apprentices financially during their training period.

What are some common challenges faced by paid plumbing apprentices during their training period?

Paid plumbing apprentices often encounter challenges such as adapting to physically demanding work, learning to use a variety of specialized tools, and understanding complex plumbing codes and safety regulations. Apprentices must also balance on-the-job training with classroom instruction, which can require effective time management. Additionally, working under the supervision of experienced plumbers means receiving frequent feedback and needing to quickly develop problem-solving skills in real-world scenarios. Overcoming these challenges helps apprentices build a strong foundation for a successful plumbing career.

Job description

Earn While You Learn  ·  No Experience Required  ·  Starting at $16/hr and Up  ·  Full Benefits

Build a Real Career in Commercial Plumbing — We Will Train You From Day One

You don't need experience. You don't need a degree. You need to show up ready to work and ready to learn — we'll handle the rest.

Betros Plumbing Contractors is a commercial construction plumbing company. That means you'll be installing new pipe systems in real commercial buildings — not chasing leaks or unclogging drains. This is skilled trade work on active construction sites, and we'll train you to do it right.

We are opening a limited number of spots in our 2026 Registered Plumber Apprenticeship Program — a 4-year, earn-while-you-learn path to a Florida Journeyworker Plumbing License, registered with the Florida Department of Education.

⚠  Spots are limited. Once the class is full, it's full.

What the Work Actually Looks Like

At Betros, you're working commercial construction — new builds, not service calls. You'll show up to a job site at a set time, work alongside a licensed Journeyworker, and learn to rough in and install plumbing systems from the ground up. Set hours. Consistent schedule. No middle-of-the-night emergency calls.

What You'll Earn

·         Starting pay $16.00/hour and up — based on experience and qualifications

·         Automatic raises every 6 months as you advance through the four-year program

·         $32.00/hour+ as a licensed Journeyworker at program completion

·         A state credential that the plumbing industry respects across Florida and beyond

No waiting around. No unpaid training. You earn a paycheck while you build a career.

What You'll Get

·         Full benefits package — medical, dental, vision coverage, 401(k) matching 4%

·         Set hours — predictable start and end times, no on-call, no emergency service

·         Hands-on mentorship — you'll train side-by-side with a licensed Journeyworker on active job sites

·         Paid from day one — this is a job, not an internship

·         A clear path forward — structured milestones, real raises, and a state license at the finish line

What We're Looking For

·         No experience necessary — We will train you completely

·         Must be 18 years or older

·         High school diploma or GED required

·         Valid driver's license & Reliable transportation to commercial job sites in the Jacksonville area

·         Strong work ethic and willingness to learn

·         Ability to perform physical labor — construction site work involves lifting, bending, and working in varying conditions

Why Betros Plumbing?

Betros Plumbing Contractors has been a trusted name in Jacksonville commercial construction for decades. We work on commercial projects — the kind of work that builds your skills fast and gives you a resume that stands out. Our apprentices train alongside our best Journeyworkers on real job sites from day one.

Skilled commercial plumbers are in demand across Florida and the entire country, and that demand is not going away. A Journeyworker Plumbing License is a career that travels with you and pays well and is AI - Proof.
