Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and motivated PACU Manager (RN) to oversee the daily operations of a busy Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). This working manager role is responsible for coordinating staffing, maintaining departmental efficiency, supporting clinical operations, and ensuring high-quality patient care in a fast-paced surgical environment.
The ideal candidate will have strong leadership abilities, PACU or perioperative experience, and a commitment to staff development, process improvement, and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee day-to-day PACU operations and staffing assignments to ensure appropriate department coverage.
  • Monitor productivity and workflow to support efficient patient care delivery.
  • Review and approve employee performance evaluations and establish staff development goals.
  • Maintain and update departmental policies, procedures, manuals, and standing orders.
  • Identify operational challenges and implement effective solutions to improve department performance.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support organizational goals and process changes.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes and efficient surgical recovery processes.
  • Assist with budgeting, inventory control, and departmental resource management.
  • Support staff education, mentorship, and ongoing professional development.
  • Maintain compliance with clinical standards, regulatory requirements, and patient safety protocols.
Requirements
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Current ACLS certification required.
  • Current BCLS certification required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of recent OR, PACU, or day surgery experience required.
  • Previous management or leadership experience required.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and team leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently while managing departmental operations effectively.
