Packing jobs are common in warehouses, factories, and retail fulfillment centers.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in packing, and why are they important?

To thrive in a Packing role, you need strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and a basic understanding of warehouse safety protocols, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with packing equipment, barcode scanners, and inventory management systems is beneficial. Job description

Description:

We ask that all interested applicants read the entire job advertisement before applying for this position. Applicants who do not fulfill the basic requirements will not be contacted. We do encourage Veterans to apply.

Powder Coating Systems is currently looking for a Packing Lead for their Swing Shift.

This is an hourly position. The starting pay for this position is $22-25 per hour based on previous experience.

Swing shift runs from 1:00 PM to 9:30PM Monday through Friday.

The Packing Lead is responsible to leading a small team in inspecting and packing completed parts.

The Lead is expected to be part of the team and participate in the process.

There will be times the Packing Lead will be running the entire shift when their Supervisor is absent.

This is an extremely physical position, requiring constant standing, bending, moving and lifting up to fifty pounds.

This position also requires knowledge of how to operate a sit-down forklift although formal certification isn't required.

We also do require employees to wear steel/composite footwear while on the floor.

Previous packing leads have moved on to become Supervisors as well as some other positions in our small company.

Powder Coating Systems offers the following benefits to their employees after they complete their first ninety days of service:

-Paid Time Off that starts accruing the first day of work.

-Paid Holidays

-Insurance benefits through Colonial Life. (This does not include medical.)

-A Sales Based Production Bonus that can accrue monthly, but is paid on a quarterly basis.

-Reliable transportation to commute to our shop in Tacoma on a daily basis. (Although there is a Pierce Transit stop nearby, we require employees to remain for the entire shift unless there is an emergency situation.)

-A current Driver's License (This is required to operate our forklifts.)

-The originals of I-9 documentation. (Immigration requires all employees to be able to prove their identity and their work eligibility within the first two days of hire. They do not allow us to use copies of the documents for proof. By law, we can't require which documents we can take. A Google search for I-9 documents can list the possible documents we can take.)

The following are not mandatory, but may be helpful to be a more effective Packing Lead:

-Previous QC experience.

-Previous palletizing experience.

-Bilingual.

-A working knowledge of hand tools, air tools, and suchlike.
