Job description

Winpak Portion Packaging is seeking a Packer to join their Production Department based out of Sauk Village, and Chicago Heights, IL. In this role you will safely and efficiently inspect and pack pouches according to established standards for product quality and outputs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Inspect and pack pouches/rolls in a manner that ensures personal safety and operational efficiency, following all established procedures and work instructions in alignment with ISO 9001:2015 quality management principles.
  • Maintain product quality by strictly adhering to defined quality standards and specifications, supporting the organization's commitment to continuous improvement and customer satisfaction as outlined in the ISO 9001:2015 framework.
  • Assist the Operator by actively monitoring production output and product quality; promptly report any deviations or nonconformities in accordance with documented escalation and corrective action procedures.
  • Lift and handle rolls and finished goods boxes weighing between 20-50 pounds (maximum 50 lbs / 22.5 kg), complying with safety protocols and ergonomic guidelines as part of the organization's health and safety management practices.
  • Verify the quality and quantity of bags in each box, ensuring conformance to customer requirements and internal specifications, and documenting any discrepancies as per ISO 9001:2015 nonconformance control procedures.
  • Accurately complete production and quality documentation, including production reports, line check sheets, and quality records, ensuring data integrity and traceability in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 record control requirements.

Required Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or food packaging environment is a plus.
  • Ability to follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and food safety regulations.
  • Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 30 lbs, and perform repetitive task (not limited to assembly, packaging, and quality inspection).
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Willingness to wear and maintain proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights and weekends, as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing or packaging environment.
  • 6 + months of experience in a packer or picker role.
  • Proven ability to work efficiently in high-volume production settings.

Additional Details:
  • The Pouch: Packer position is 100% onsite, working on the production floor.

12-hour COP Shift Rotation:
Week 1 - Monday, Tuesday, Friday Saturday
Week 2 - Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday
Compensation range:
The compensation range provided is a general guideline only. Pay will be determined based on the candidate's experience and expertise and is subject to vary. $17.68 - $21.32.
