Job description

The Role: We are seeking dependable, hardworking individuals to join our team as General Labor Workers in our onion packing and storage facility. This role involves assembling boxes, sorting onions, supporting packing machines, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Workers will perform tasks under close supervision and are expected to follow direct instructions from a crew leader or supervisor.
Location(s): Hollister, CA
Areas of Responsibility:
  • Box Assembly - Make cardboard boxes, plastic RPCs, lids, and crate covers for packing.
  • Lifting & Moving - Pull, push, fill, and weigh 40-lb boxes; lift and carry up to 25 lbs repeatedly.
  • Sorting - Sort onions by size and quality as directed.
  • Work Area Cleaning - Sweep and maintain a clean work area throughout the shift.
  • Machine Support - Push onions into packing machines for sack production.
  • Stair Use - Safely climb up and down stairs as needed for machine access.
  • Palletizing - Tie pallets, apply corner boards, and secure loads with straps.
  • Bag Filling - Fill and weigh 2-lb, 3-lb, 5-lb, 6-lb, and 8-lb onion bags.
  • Sack Machine Assistance - Remove and replace empty 25-lb and 50-lb sacks on bagging machines.
  • Team & Attendance Expectations - Work well with others, arrive on time, and follow direct instructions from supervisors.

Requirements:
  • Must be able to repeatedly lift and carry 25-40 lbs.
  • Comfortable performing repetitive tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to follow detailed verbal instructions in English or Spanish.
  • Willing to work up to 6 days per week depending on company needs.
  • Willing to work extended hours when required.
  • Team player with a positive attitude and respect for supervisors, coworkers, and visitors.
  • No previous experience required, but must be willing to learn.
