Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Food Pantry Assistant is responsible for transporting food and supplies to and from the food pantry, ensuring timely and safe delivery to clients and partner agencies. This position plays a key role in supporting the mission of the food pantry by delivering essential goods to individuals and families in need while maintaining high standards of safety, food quality, and customer service.

Essential Functions:

  1. Safely transport food items, including perishable and non-perishable goods, from food donors, warehouses, or suppliers to the pantry.
  2. Ensure timely and efficient delivery of food to the New American Welcome Center
  3. Secure items properly in the vehicle to prevent damage or spoilage.
  4. Follow all food safety guidelines when loading, transporting, and unloading food.
  5. Ensure the proper handling of perishable goods to minimize waste and ensure safety.
  6. Assist with food inventory and record-keeping as needed.
  7. Provide excellent service and maintain a positive, respectful attitude when interacting with clients, partners, and volunteers.
  8. Assist clients, volunteers, or team members in unloading food and organizing pantry supplies.
  9. Work closely with other pantry staff, volunteers, and partners to coordinate food deliveries and pick-ups.
