Job description

The Role: We are seeking dependable, hardworking individuals to join our team as Heavy Labor Packers in our onion packing and storage facility. This physically demanding role involves lifting, stacking, and moving onion sacks, boxes, and bins to support the efficient and safe operation of the shed. Workers will perform tasks under close supervision, following specific instructions from a crew leader.
Location(s): Hollister, CA
Areas of Responsibility:
  • Lift and move onion sacks weighing 25-55 lbs, often from a conveyor to a nearby pallet.
  • Operate or assist with onion bagging machines: load empty sacks, tie filled sacks, and wrap them with netting.
  • Stack 40 lb. boxes and crates on pallets and secure them with straps and boards.
  • Hang empty onion sacks and refill bins and crates with onions from machines.
  • Move bagging machines and empty bins as needed.
  • Sweep and clean up onion skins and debris throughout the day.
  • Assist with repacking by dumping sacks and boxes into onion bins.
  • Make boxes, bins, lids, and crates for packing.
  • Follow all safety rules and maintain a clean work environment.
  • Show up on time, work reliably, and follow instructions from supervisors.

Requirements:
  • Must be able to repeatedly lift and carry 25-55 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in both hot and cold environments.
  • Able to follow detailed instructions and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Team player with a positive attitude and respect for supervisors, coworkers and visitors.
  • No previous experience required, but must be willing to learn.
