Packing Line Worker – Full Time

Highland Baking Company seeks high-energy candidates to fill our full-time Packing Line Worker position at our Northbrook, IL, location.

POSITION SUMMARY:

As a Packing Line Worker, you will ensure that products are adequately packaged and prepared for shipment. You will work closely with other team members to ensure production goals are met and all products meet our high-quality standards. This role requires strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

This position works in a refrigerated cooler environment with temperatures ranging from 40°F to 50°F for 10+ hour shifts starting at 4 pm. The standard schedule is Monday through Thursday, with occasional Fridays based on production needs.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate and maintain packaging machines while inspecting and selecting products.
  • Clean and organize the packaging area.
  • Check the quality of prepared products.
  • Place the finished product on a conveyor, slicer, or bagger.
  • Assess quality and select finished products.
  • Place packed products in pre-assembled and labeled boxes or plastic trays.
  • Stack boxes of products according to specifications.
  • Transport stacked products to the wrapping machine.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLSET:

  • Responsible for reporting any food safety issues to your supervisor or management promptly.
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and basic OSHA safety regulations preferred.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to learn how to operate various machinery and equipment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Able to follow and execute instructions accurately.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires physical activity, including reaching, bending, twisting, squatting, lifting up to 50 pounds, and standing for 10–12 hours daily in a cooler environment maintained at 40°F-50°F.

SCHEDULE:

  • Monday through Thursday
  • 10+ hour shifts starting at 4 pm
  • Occasional Fridays as needed
