POSITION SUMMARY

The Supply Manager's main responsibility is to manage the flow of all assigned produce items procured from either domestic or imported sources. This position reports to the Director of Supply and works closely with the leaders of all the S&OP departments. This position will require periodic travel to multiple growing regions throughout the year as well as to other Pero locations as the company deems necessary. 

Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Manage assigned product lines from receipt to shipment, ensuring quality and consistency
  • Walk the production floor and coolers daily to inspect and monitor product
  • Lift and handle cases of raw product (20-40lbs or more) as part of product inspection
  • Partner with QC and Production teams to review daily inspection reports, evaluate incoming product, identify quality concerns, and make purchasing decisions
  • Conduct inspections in packing houses and directly from field deliveries on a regular basis
  • Attend daily onsite department meetings
  • Ensure full compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and food safety protocols, including proper use of PPE
  • Maintain accurate records of product inspections and communicate with vendors and internal teams as needed
  • Develops and innovates sourcing strategy for assigned commodities
  • Negotiate raw product contracts with suppliers based on commodity specifications
  • Integrate new suppliers into our network with the collaboration of the Quality Assurance Team in order to help them reach the level of excellence required by company standards
  • Expand current grower relations to keep portfolio balanced and diversified 
  • Facilitate targeted deliveries of raw product with the Logistics Team and Production
  • Analyze daily inventory levels to maintain freshness and ease the flow of materials
  • Communicate with the Sales team to ensure all variances are understood
  • Prepare assigned commodity update reports of volume, price, and availability for weekly review
  • Responsible for maintaining budgetary profit margins and improving costs on assigned commodities
  • Participate with growers, finance, sales/marketing, R&D and project managers with new product development and launch

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent industry experience
  • Minimum of 2+ years in procurement or related field 
  • Computer skills: Basics: Microsoft Office Suite, strong emphasis in Excel
  • Industry Specific: ERP Software; Famous, Forecasting Software
  • Experience in the CPG space, preferably in fresh produce
  • Food Safety and Quality regulations: Primus, BRC, HAACP, GMP, GSFI

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work is performed in a combination of office, production, packing house, and refrigerated cooler environments
  • Regular exposure to cold temperatures while working in coolers and refrigerated storage areas
  • Frequent presence on the production floor and in packing facilities to inspect and monitor product
  • Required compliance with all food safety, GMP, and PPE protocols, including proper donning and doffing of PPE
  • Daily interaction with cross-functional teams, including Supply, QC, Production, Logistics, Sales, and Finance
  • Periodic travel to domestic and international growing regions, packing houses, and other company locations as business needs require
  • Participation in daily onsite department meetings
  • Use of computers and ERP systems in an office environment for reporting, analysis, and communication
  • Required to follow strict GMP guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to sanitation standards when entering controlled environments.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to walk extensively throughout production floors, coolers, and packing areas on a daily basis
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull cases of raw product weighing approximately 20-40 pounds or more
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and inspect product for extended periods
  • Ability to work in refrigerated environments for prolonged durations
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while performing computer-based work
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity required to conduct detailed product inspections and review documentation
