Job description

Role Summary

We are hiring Network Engineers to support lab and production testing, deployment, and upgrade activities for Cisco Enhanced Packet Core products, as well as ongoing network optimization and post-launch support. Engineers will work directly with the customer's networking staff and Cisco's management team on testing, design consultation, change management, and escalation support.

Responsibilities

Provide software and technical advisory support for incremental changes to architecture, network, and applicable Cisco devices, including customer lab environments.

Participate in consulting meetings with the customer to understand solution-oriented testing goals and requirements.

Execute network testing in the customer's lab environment and report findings, including: reviewing testing goals and business objectives, developing or refining test plans, executing tests, and documenting results in test reports.

Design and implement lab equipment upgrades and new features; provide design and workshop consulting services to the customer.

Develop migration guides for lab-to-production activity and provide migration/implementation support for Production First Office Application (FOA) nights of activity.

Offer knowledge of the network to Cisco's TAC or HTTS teams to help expedite restoration of service during escalations. (Engineers do not take ownership of Service Requests, independently troubleshoot, or provide behind-the-scenes triage - all escalation work is conducted through TAC SR support.)

Consult with customer networking staff to understand network design requirements, focusing on resiliency, self-recovery, scalability, and the ability to handle increased traffic demands and QoS.

Provide current and incremental network design and architecture consultation.

Provide ongoing information on design-related Cisco security alerts that may impact key network products.

Evaluate the potential impact of proposed scheduled network changes, review implementation procedures, and assist in resolving hardware/configuration problems during major deployments into a live network.

Conduct or participate in knowledge transfer sessions, providing the customer with informal training on their deployed Cisco infrastructure.

Schedule and support scheduled network changes to minimize risk of error, including evaluating change impact, reviewing implementation procedures, and providing remote support during major production network activities.

Provide support for Quarterly Business Review (QBR) reporting when required, including reporting on activities/outcomes, risk assessments, and 90-day planning.

Actively participate in weekly conference calls between the customer and Cisco.

Participate in monthly service review meetings to confirm fulfillment of services and required document deliverables, including SLA achievement.
