Ensure the quality of manufactured parts is maintained throughout the packaging process by supporting existing packaging systems and developing improvements to packaging design, performance, and efficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with other departments in maintaining / developing the PFEP (Plan For Every Part).
  • Work with other departments in the development of VSM (Value Stream Mapping) and contribute towards improved future state goals
  • Ensures packaging development and improvement project meets all customer and internal requirements for synchronous manufacturing, ergonomics, environmental and safety standards.
  • Manage all program costs related to packaging budgets. Prepare and issue complete Request for Quote (RFQ) packages to suppliers.
  • Create and maintain packaging plans to support current, new, and potential business programs.
  • Maintain an up-to-date open issue tracking report. Identify all action items requiring completion to successfully meet deadlines.
  • Maintain effective communication regarding packaging projects with Program Managers and key stakeholders.
  • Maintain all customer-specific packaging requirements, specifications, and approval documentation.
  • Track and maintain program costs and budgets for purchased packaging materials and equipment.
  • Work with other departments to eliminate handling damage associated with packaging issues.
  • Develop and execute packaging test methods, validations, and protocols for new and existing packaging projects.
  • Works with key functions to design packaging using appropriate structure analyses, test methods, design methodologies, feasibility justification, and business case processes.
  • Justifies and prepares capital expenditures for new packaging processes and equipment.
  • Act as a representative of AIM Systems with customers and suppliers, developing long-term, mutually beneficial business relationships.
  • Analyzes and suggests synchronous plans for work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Develop, maintain, coordinate, and approve packaging-related floor plan layouts and implementations.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Packaging Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant manufacturing experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years of packaging, manufacturing, industrial engineering, or related experience preferred.
  • Experience in an automotive manufacturing environment is preferred.

Special Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and customer specifications.
  • Experience with packaging design software and CAD systems is preferred.
  • Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, Lean Manufacturing, and Continuous Improvement methodologies preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
