Job Description:

As a Packaging Lab Technician / Packaging Engineer, you will support packaging testing, development, and evaluation activities for new product launches, formula renovations, packaging changes, and consumer testing. This role combines hands-on laboratory and packaging testing with technical documentation, prototype assembly, troubleshooting, and coordination with internal teams and vendors.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Assist with packaging testing for new product launches, formula renovations, and packaging changes.

Perform hands-on packaging test methods, including drop testing, decoration testing, sample filling, evaluation of samples, and other packaging performance tests.

Assemble packaging prototypes for consumer testing and support packaging development activities.

Assist with e-commerce testing, including filling, sorting, and evaluating finished goods.

Participate in the process of managing new tooling development and support packaging production activities.

Learn and apply packaging specifications, testing systems, and web-based software.

Create testing templates, accurately record data, prepare reports, and communicate test results.

Troubleshoot technical and packaging-related issues and escalate blocking points when necessary.

Support Division, Operations, and vendors in meeting key project dates, deadlines, and major product launch milestones.

Identify potential issues or delays and communicate them proactively to the appropriate teams.

Support multiple packaging projects and team priorities in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.

Maintain meticulous attention to design details, product quality, documentation, and testing accuracy.

Perform repeated bending, lifting, standing, and other physical laboratory activities as required.

Perform additional duties and support the team based on business priorities.


Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical/scientific discipline such as Packaging Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

1–3 years of experience in packaging engineering, packaging development, laboratory testing, or a related technical field is preferred.

Experience in cosmetics, consumer goods, packaging, manufacturing, or a related industry is highly desirable.

Technical or scientific background with an interest in packaging testing and development.

Strong PC skills, including Microsoft Office and PowerPoint; proficiency in Excel is required.

Ability to quickly learn web-based software, packaging specification systems, and testing platforms.

Knowledge of CAD software is preferred.

Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.

Strong understanding of packaging production and development processes.

Excellent organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written.

Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and accuracy.

Demonstrated ability to analyze, document, and communicate technical information and test results.

Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a matrixed environment.

Well organized, flexible, and capable of managing multiple projects and priorities while meeting established deadlines.

Curious mindset with a passion for learning, problem-solving, and developing technical skills.

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse teams, internal stakeholders, operations groups, and external vendors.
