Job description

PURPOSE OF ROLE:

Primarily responsible for the automated packaging line activities.  Will be responsible for inspecting packaged material for conformance with specifications, tallying, and observing operations to identify equipment malfunctions and/or repair needs and making adjustments as needed.  Collaborate with Packaging Supervisor to ensure safety and production goals are achieved. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Record product, packaging, and other information on specific forms and or warehouse management systems.
  • Work in a safe manner and follow all company rules and policies concerning safety and PPE.
  • Ensure that you have a productive, safe, clean, and efficient work environment.
  • Maintain productivity and quality levels as set by the Packaging Supervisor.
  • Conduct visual checks of machinery and escalate any issues to appropriate management.
  • Perform required clean down duties between packaging assignments.
  • Identify damages and report overages/shortages for quality deficiencies.
  • Perform any additional duties assigned by the Packaging Supervisor.

KNOWLEDGE / QUALIFICATONS / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in warehouse and/or packaging environments.
  • Good math, language, and reading skills
  • Knowledge of proper PPE requirements.
  • Functional knowledge of handling rail cars.
  • Basic computer skills may be required.

                                                                                                                                      

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma/GED

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • A variety of standing, sitting and walking throughout the day
  • Potential lifting of up to 55 pounds
  • Occasional climbing of ladders
  • Use of basic warehouse equipment
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures, depending upon season
