Job Title: Filler Machine Operator

Location: Bakersfield, CA
Employment Type: Full-Time, Temp-to-Hire
Pay Rate: $18.00–$20.00 per hour (Temporary Assignment) | Pay increase upon successful hire with client
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 6am-2:30pm or 7am-3:30pm

Position Overview

Legacy Staffing is seeking a dependable and mechanically inclined Filler Machine Operator on behalf of a manufacturing client. This position is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining automated bottling and packaging equipment to ensure efficient, safe, and continuous production. The ideal candidate will have machine operation experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced production environment. 

Key Responsibilities Machine Operation
  • Operate and monitor automated bottling, filling, and packaging equipment to ensure continuous production. 
  • Ensure adequate supplies are available and loaded into machine hoppers before production runs. 
  • Start equipment and monitor initial operation, adjusting machine speed as production demands require.
  • Turn machinery on and off safely while maintaining constant awareness of line performance. 
  • Identify and clear machine jams, material issues, and minor operational interruptions. 
Production & Quality Control
  • Monitor production lines and anticipate issues before they impact efficiency. 
  • Record production data and properly dispose of spoiled product according to procedures.
  • Apply labels and transfer finished products to shipping areas while maintaining organization. 
  • Understand and troubleshoot causes of high and low fill levels. 
  • Perform product checks and maintain quality standards throughout production.
Equipment Maintenance & Changeovers
  • Perform simple routine maintenance to keep machines operating safely and efficiently.
  • Replace valves and assist with filler changeovers as required. 
  • Follow procedures for oiling capper heads and maintaining filler systems. 
  • Support startup procedures for tea production and obtain required licensing as provided by the employer. 
Documentation & Team Support
  • Complete production paperwork accurately at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Communicate equipment issues and production concerns to supervisors promptly. 
  • Support fellow operators and assist where needed to maintain safe and efficient operations.
Qualifications
  • Minimum one (1) year of machine operator experience required. 
  • Food manufacturing or bottling experience preferred. 
  • Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team. 
  • Basic computer skills and ability to follow operating procedures. 
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability. 
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods. 
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds. 
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and around production machinery. 
  • Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, and rotating shifts as required. 
Work Environment
  • Manufacturing environment with exposure to moving mechanical equipment and loud noise. 
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required at all times. 
  • Employees must follow established sanitation, safety, and production procedures. 
Required PPE
  • Steel-toed or composite-toe safety shoes required.
  • Hard hat required in designated production areas.
  • Hair nets, beard covers (if applicable), hearing protection, and other required PPE must be worn at all times.
