Openwork is seeking an experienced and dependable Packaging Associate for a growing metals manufacturing facility in Houston. This hands-on role involves packaging, forklift operation, material handling, quality checks, and preparing products for shipment.

Candidates must have 2+ years of relevant manufacturing, packaging, warehouse, or material-handling experience and be committed to safety, quality, and reliable attendance.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Read and follow shop copies, packing lists, and packaging instructions
  • Inspect materials for correct dimensions and defects
  • Package rolled and flat products according to customer requirements
  • Prepare pallets, crates, shrink wrap, banding, and export packaging
  • Label and prepare completed materials for shipment
  • Operate a forklift to move materials and finished products
  • Separate, weigh, label, and move scrap materials
  • Maintain accurate packaging and material records
  • Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe
  • Follow all quality, environmental, and safety procedures
What We're Looking For
  • 2+ years of manufacturing, packaging, warehouse, or material-handling experience required
  • Forklift operating experience required; skills test completed during the interview process
  • Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic math
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English
  • Reliable and consistent attendance
  • Strong attention to detail and quality
  • Ability to frequently lift 5075 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and remain active throughout a 10-hour shift
  • Overhead crane experience is a plus
  • Ability to work required overtime based on production needs
Work Environment & Safety

This is a safety-sensitive manufacturing environment with specific PPE and hygiene requirements.

  • Respirator required throughout the entire shift
  • Must remain clean-shaven for a proper respirator seal
  • Showering at the end of each shift is mandatory
  • Work involves lead-based materials
  • Periodic blood testing is required
  • Must follow all PPE, hygiene, and safety procedures
  • Must be comfortable working around industrial equipment and heavy materials
