Job description

PACKAGING SUPERVISOR

The Bryan Eagle, a Lee Enterprises, Inc. paper is seeking a Full-Time Hands-on Packaging Supervisor, who is responsible for quality, timely and smooth evening/nightly operations such as addressing mail, packaging and inserting newspapers.  This key position as a working supervisor will assist and provide leadership to the employees who perform these functions in a regional printing facility, responsible for printing multiple newspapers for the region.

This position is responsible to:

  • Ensure accurate and timely insertion, addressing and packaging of all inserted and mailed products.
  • Prepare nightly paperwork, reports, and tracking documents.
  • Set up equipment such as inserter machine hoppers, ink jetting equipment, stackers, conveyors and Mirasert.
  • Ability to learn addressing periodicals to be mailed via USPS.
  • Stage pallets of print products, print and set up mail tags, mail sacking and label making
  • Monitor preprints and Miracom file movement, mark and sort bundle tops, label files and printing
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines, set priorities, control waste and produce quality work.
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate orally in conversation both in person and by telephone.
  • Strong people skills and the ability to interact with others and remain focused while dealing with multiple objectives and timelines.
  • The ability to work in a team setting, develop and motivate people, and embrace the concept of teamwork.
  • Self-motivation with the ability to work independently.
  • Mechanical and troubleshooting abilities
  • Ability to operate motorized pallet jack and fork truck.
  • Promote safety and ensure all safety guidelines are followed.
