Job description

SALARY RANGE 115-130K

QA/QC Manager – Quality, Welding & Fabrication

Seeking an experienced QA/QC leader to own the Quality Management System (QMS) end-to-end and ensure fabricated products meet company standards, customer specifications, and applicable industry codes. This is a hands-on leadership role—you’ll manage the QC team while personally conducting inspections at fabricator shops locally and nationwide.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and continuously improve the QMS, including ISO 9001 compliance, audits, procedures, and inspection criteria.
  • Lead, hire, train, and develop direct-hire QC Inspectors while coordinating third-party inspection resources.
  • Perform hands-on shop inspections, identify non-conformances, and drive corrective actions.
  • Oversee vendor/fabricator quality, Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), quality metrics, and supplier performance.
  • Review drawings, specifications, weld symbols, and technical documentation for code compliance.
  • Manage inspection reports, NCRs, data books, turnover packages, and customer/A.I. interactions.

Ideal Background:

10+ years of QA/QC experience in steel fabrication, welding, or manufacturing, with supervisory/management experience. Strong knowledge of SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, GTAW, AWS D1.1, ASME, and fabrication practices. CWI certification is required; ASNT NDT Level II is preferred. Experience owning a QMS, managing third-party inspectors, and working with ISO 9001 is highly valued.
