What will you do?

As an Engineering Technician in our San Diego office, you will work on a small team to assist engineers in the production of optical, mechanical, and electrical systems in order to meet the project and customer’s requirements.

Essential Job Functions:
  •  Support production of optical, mechanical, and electrical system parts and assemblies by:
    • Assisting in getting quotes for parts and assemblies
    • Ordering and receiving parts while tracking against a Bill of Materials (BOM)
    • Packaging parts, preparing and managing shipments
    • Inventory management and organization
  • Assist engineers in the design, development, testing, inspection, installation, and operation of optical, mechanical, and electrical components and assemblies
  • Conduct part inspections and generate inspection reports
  • Assist with recording test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and recommendations for changes in products or test methods; compare test results to design specifications and test objectives
  • Operate basic fabrication equipment such as drill press, hand tools, manual lathe, etc.
  • Basic knowledge of soldering component level parts and wiring harnesses
  • Some operation or setup of Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM)

Position is based onsite in San Diego.

What are we looking for?
  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • 1-4 years of Technician experience
  • Experience building in a clean room environment, preferably lasers/optics, and related equipment
  • Knowledge of electrical enclosures, wire harness assembly and soldering, adhesives/bonding, and kitting and receive instructions
  • Experience with handling equipment such as:
    • Thermal chamber
    • Bakeout oven
    • Ultrasonic cleaner
    • Lasers
  • Hands-on experience with building from assembly drawings
  • Understanding of tooling for inspections such as gauge pins, thread tapping, calipers, volt meters, and power meters
  • Ability to stand continuously as well as bend, squat, and lift frequently
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs occasionally
  • Must be a US Person (U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident)
Compensation and Benefits

Engineering Technician I pay range: $17.56/hour - $28.69/hour*

Engineering Technician II pay range: $21.24/hour - $34.71/hour*

*This range represents base pay. In addition, you may be eligible for additional benefits and compensation.
