The Opportunity

The Corrugated Packaging Specialist reports to the Corrugated Structural Manager, the successful candidate is responsible for the development of corrugated products which supports the effective use of machine assets both at Atlantic Packaging and its client base. Deep hands-on experience in structural packaging is key. Corrugated Packaging Specialist works well in a group and individually to create the design of complex corrugated products, provide alternative and / or alternative suggestions. This role requires a strong balance of creativity, technical expertise, and operational knowledge to ensure designs are production-ready and optimized for both protection and presentation.

What you'll do

  • Support the design of structural packaging and complex corrugated boxes, trays and other die-cut items / elements.  
  • Develop intricate dyelines optimized for Esko-enabled digital cutting and prototyping tables (Kongsberg preferred). 
  • Prototype, test, and refine packaging structures independently to ensure fit, function, and manufacturability. 
  • Collaborate closely with Production, Sales, Estimating, and Technical teams to align designs with board combinations, assembly, and production constraints. 
  • Support the design team with guidance on best practices and ensure design quality across projects. 
  • Stay current on packaging trends, materials, and technologies to innovate solutions. 

 

What you'll bring

  • 3+ years of experience in structural packaging design, preferably with corrugated products.
  • Advanced proficiency in CAD table operations and experience with Esko-enabled cutting/prototyping tables (Kongsberg preferred).
  • Strong working knowledge of ArtiosCAD or equivalent Esko software.
  • Proven ability to design production-ready prototypes and dyelines, optimized for digital corrugated and mid to high volume production.
  • Understanding of structural engineering principles for corrugated products; distribution, product retention, and assembly efficiency (automatic and / or manual).
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft products is a benefit.
  • Background in premium packaging or other corrugated related fields are an asset.
  • Experience in presenting design solutions to clients an asset.
