About the Role

North America R&D Packaging at Haleon is a diverse team with colleagues from a variety of backgrounds and experience. Our function has three priorities: to deliver and strengthen the innovation pipeline with superior packaging solutions, to lead the transformation on sustainable packaging and to anticipate the development of emerging packaging technologies & solutions. Underpinning this is an appetite for building class-leading R&D packaging development capability and a sustained focus on looking after each other and nurturing our talent.

The Senior Packaging Engineer, NA R&D Packaging is part of the dynamic North America R&D team with responsibility to deliver innovation led growth for the US and Canada business units, coupled with Haleon packaging sustainability goals. This role has direct accountability to deliver superior packaging solutions for our trusted brands in the Wellness category.

The role will be based out of our Warren office in NJ or our R&D site in Richmond, VA.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and execute superior packaging solutions for the brands based on deep understanding of our consumer's needs and competitive landscape.

  • Manage multiple projects with varied levels of complexity following the stage-gate process and ensure delivery on time, in budget meeting the defined success criteria.

  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to ideate and find creative packaging solutions for the business, create robust technical development plan and execute with excellence.

  • Continually develop and leverage knowledge in packaging sustainability trends, recycling technologies and recyclability guidelines.

  • Create specifications, reports, protocols, and other technical documentation as per relevant internal and external standards in compliance with the quality and regulatory requirements.

  • Demonstrate subject matter expertise on packaging and business savviness across all interactions with stakeholders and leaders.

Why you?

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Packaging, Chemical, Mechanical or Industrial), or Science (Material Science, Polymer Chemistry or related fields) or relevant course of study.

  • At least 8 yrs of relevant primary packaging experience in FMCG or Healthcare industry, with 2-3 yrs of experience in a role leading packaging projects.

  • Strong technical expertise in the field of packaging materials, formats and applications with a very good understanding of emerging trends and technologies

  • Project management skills

  • Strong communication skill to clearly express ideas and summarize complex information effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in rigid platic development and mold qualifications.

  • Track record of delivering innovation to the marketplace along with a good grasp of the associated challenges to anticipate and resolve issues, mitigate risks and make sound recommendations for decision making.

  • Sound understanding of the packing line equipment and processes at the manufacturing sites.

  • Ability to solve technical and operational problems with scientific rigor.

  • Ability to thrive in a diverse and fast-paced environment.

  • A strong drive to continuously learn and grow

The salary range for this role is: $119,530 - $164,354 plus a 12% bonus.
