Job description

TITLE:   Buyer 

POSITION OBJECTIVE: The Buyer will be a detail-orientated person working within the purchasing department to source, negotiate and procure raw materials required for production while managing inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstocking. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 3-years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong math, written, verbal and analytical skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  1. Microsoft Office – intermediate level
  2. Excel – advanced level
  3. Inventory system software - intermediate level
  • Ability to build and maintain productive relationships with peers and functional teams.
  • Demonstrated confidentiality and the ability to represent the company in a professional manner.
  • Ability to work independently and take on new challenges
  • Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary.
  • Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Be a key contributing team member
  • Create and/or processing purchase orders and maintain tracking of delivery
  • Evaluating and planning of raw material component(s) and / packaging products and their delivery
  • Establish and maintain vendor relationships.
  • Maintain vendor, inventory, and regulatory files
  • Carry out procedures involving quality and trial processes with suppliers
  • Set up new suppliers and / or service providers
  • Follow company policies and procedures
  • Follow up on all orders for proper authorization in a timely manner
  • Attend scheduling and / or production meetings as assigned
  • Monitor inventory for “Obsolete” materials

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS SUBJECTED TO IN THIS POSITION:

  • Hours – 8am to 5pm. Monday – Friday
  • Office setting

TRAINING:

  • Must complete online and classroom training as required.

AUTHORITY / DECISION MAKING:

  • Authority to seek out and establish relationships with vendors.
