Job description

Samba is a media intelligence company. We know what the world is watching, reading, and thinking about - in real time, at scale, across every screen. Our data exists with the consent of over a billion people, organized into the most complete picture of consumer attention ever built. The biggest brands in the world use that picture to make smarter decisions. We think it's the most interesting data asset on the planet, because it's the most culturally relevant.
This role sits at the intersection of business development and corporate development, supporting Samba TV's commercial partnerships alongside M&A activities. The ideal candidate will have 3-4 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, or top-tier consulting and/or corporate development, with a finance, economics, or business degree. They have experience in strategic commercial deals: how to structure a partnership, evaluate a data licensing arrangement, and assess whether a BD opportunity is worth pursuing, along with fluency in financial modeling skills and an interest in the media and technology sectors. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership on strategic transactions and commercial partnerships, while developing expertise in deal execution and financial analysis.
Responsibilities
  • Support end-to-end execution of strategic and commercial partnerships, from preparing business cases to evaluate BD opportunities to closing the deal
  • Create partner-facing decks, term sheets, and deal summaries for strategic BD discussions with platforms, OEMs, advertisers, and data partners
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders including finance, legal, product, and engineering teams to facilitate due diligence processes and integration planning
  • Assist in the management of buy side and sell-side processes, including prioritization of buy side prospects, preparation of materials for team reviews and discussions, coordination with advisors, and evaluation of inbound inquiries from interested parties
  • Conduct preliminary financial analysis and due diligence on target companies, including review of confidential information memorandums (CIMs), management presentations, and financial statements
  • Build and maintain models to assess valuation, returns analysis, and other key metrics for potential transactions
  • Conduct industry research and competitive analysis to identify emerging trends, potential targets, and strategic opportunities in the streaming and advertising technology landscape
  • Maintain transaction pipeline tracking and status reporting for ongoing business & corporate development activities
  • Support ongoing partner relationships through meeting prep, follow-up tracking, and QBR coordination
  • Attend industry conferences and networking events to identify potential opportunities and maintain market awareness

Qualifications
  • BA/BS degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field; MBA is a plus but not required
  • 3-4 years of experience in investment banking (M&A or TMT coverage preferred), corporate development, business development, private equity, venture capital, or top-tier management consulting
  • Advanced financial modeling skills with proficiency in Excel and experience building discounted cash flow (DCF), comparable company, and precedent transaction analyses
  • Experience using tools like PitchBook, Capital IQ, or Crunchbase for market intelligence and transaction research
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex financial and business information and communicate findings clearly and concisely to senior leadership
  • Experience reviewing and analyzing financial statements, key performance metrics, and business models, ideally including international deals and transactions
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple work streams simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience creating executive-level presentations
  • Interest in or knowledge of the media, entertainment, advertising technology, or data analytics industries preferred
  • Prior exposure to commercial deal structuring, partnership development, or data licensing is a plus
  • Self-starter with strong work ethic and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Willingness to travel as needed for due diligence and deal execution

$190,000 - $215,000 a year
Samba expects to offer a base salary between $160,000 - $180,000 per year for roles to be performed in New York or California; actual base salary offered will depend on various factors, including but not limited to, location, experience, and performance.
