About NANO Nuclear Energy

NANO Nuclear Energy is an advanced nuclear technology company developing next-generation microreactor systems that will help transform the future of clean, reliable, and resilient energy. Through the development of its KRONOS MMR Energy System, LOKI MMR Energy System, and ZEUS Solid Core Battery Reactor-advanced high-temperature gas-cooled reactor (HTGR) technologies designed for applications including data centers, industrial operations, remote communities, and critical infrastructure-the company is advancing innovative nuclear solutions for a rapidly evolving energy landscape. NANO Nuclear has also submitted a Construction Permit Application (CPA) to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) to support the planned deployment of the KRONOS MMR at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), representing a significant milestone toward the commercialization of advanced nuclear technology.

Joining NANO Nuclear means contributing to pioneering technologies with the potential to redefine the nuclear industry while working alongside experts in engineering, science, and innovation. Our team operates in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment where employees are encouraged to solve challenging technical problems and advance the materials technologies needed for next-generation energy systems.

About Secured Transportation Services:

Secured Transportation Services, LLC (STS) is a specialized transportation and logistics provider serving the nuclear industry. Headquartered in Winder, Georgia, STS manages the packaging, routing, security, and delivery of fresh and spent nuclear fuel, radiological sources, and other radioactive materials for the U.S. Department of Energy, the national laboratories, universities, and commercial nuclear customers, both domestically and internationally.

STS provides a full range of services, including route surveys and NRC route certification, transportation security planning, permitting and regulatory compliance, escort and law enforcement coordination, Movement Control Center operations, and on-site project management at origin and destination. Shipments are executed by highway, ocean, and air as project requirements dictate.

STS is a small business and a wholly-owned subsidiary of NANO Nuclear Energy, Inc.

Position Overview

Lead the strategic growth of high-consequence transportation services, helping expand market presence, strengthen customer relationships, and identify new commercial opportunities. This role combines market intelligence, analytical skills, and relationship-building to support the development and execution of transportation solutions for radioactive materials, spent nuclear fuel, and specialized nuclear logistics. The Associate works closely with senior business development leadership, technical teams, and project managers to identify opportunities and develop proposals aligned with organizational goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Commercial Pipeline - Drive targeted outreach to utilities, national laboratories, government agencies, and private nuclear partners to identify new opportunities.
  • Market Research - Monitor customer programs, procurement schedules, sector developments, and transportation needs to support outreach efforts and identify upcoming commercial opportunities.
  • Initial Client Interaction - Serve as the first point of contact for prospective clients, collecting preliminary information, clarifying needs, and coordinating next steps.
  • Project Scoping Support - Work with technical and operations teams to define early shipment requirements, timelines, and logistics parameters that shape initial project concepts.
  • Proposal and Commercial Support - Assist in developing early cost inputs, preparing proposal materials, and maintaining accurate CRM data to support the commercial pipeline.
  • Government and Regulatory Coordination - Support engagement with federal agencies, regulators, and industry organizations to identify contracting opportunities, monitor policy developments, and ensure commercial activities align with applicable regulatory requirements.
  • New Market Entry - Evaluate emerging domestic and international markets, customer segments, and strategic partnerships to expand the company's transportation and logistics services.
  • Product Development - Collaborate with technical, operations, and leadership teams to identify customer needs and help shape new service offerings and transportation solutions that strengthen the company's competitive position.
  • Strategic Partnerships - Build and maintain relationships with complementary service providers, technology companies, and industry organizations to expand commercial opportunities.
  • Conference & Industry Engagement - Represent the company at industry conferences, customer meetings, and trade associations to strengthen market presence and generate new business opportunities.
  • CRM & Pipeline Management - Maintain accurate opportunity tracking, sales forecasts, and customer engagement records to support commercial planning and reporting.

Success in the First Year:

  • Develop a strong understanding of nuclear transportation processes, assets, regulatory standards, and industry stakeholders.
  • Build productive relationships across internal teams and key external partners.
  • Contribute meaningful insights through market analysis that help refine business strategies and support long-term positioning.
  • Support successful submission of multiple high-quality proposals or bids.
  • Demonstrate growth in independently managing tasks, coordinating customer interactions, and contributing to opportunity development.
  • Play an active role in expanding the business development pipeline by identifying potential customers and opportunities.
  • Earn trust as a reliable, detail-oriented team member who enhances both commercial efforts and organizational knowledge.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, supply chain, nuclear science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience and prior business development, sales support, or commercial analysis experience.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market, regulatory, and technical information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to craft clear proposals and presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • High attention to detail, particularly related to documentation and compliance-driven environments.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with standard business software and CRM tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the nuclear energy sector, transportation logistics, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with radioactive material transportation regulations, nuclear supply chain considerations, or nuclear logistics equipment such as packaging and spent fuel transport systems.
  • Experience interacting with government agencies, utilities, national laboratories, or large industrial clients.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance, which includes having U.S. citizenship, is preferred but not required.

What We Offer

  • A collaborative culture focused on innovation and technical excellence.
  • Competitive medical, dental, vision and life insurance with generous company contributions.
  • Company 401(k) plan with 5% match.
  • Unlimited PTO policy with company holidays and paid parental leave.
  • The opportunity to contribute to a cleaner, more reliable energy future.
