Job description

Packaging Assistant Manager

Location: Miramar, FL
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM โ€“ 5:00 PM
Pay Rate: $20-23 per hour

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Operations, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 1โ€“3 years of experience in a manufacturing, packaging, or production environment.
  • At least three (3) years of leadership experience in a production or operations setting.
  • Strong mathematical, counting, and analytical skills.
  • Experience working with production schedules and planning preferred.
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing KPIs (Efficiency, Yield, Waste, Throughput, etc.) preferred.
  • Proficient in Excel and/or Google Sheets.
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and time-management skills.
  • Clear and effective communicator with operators, supervisors, and management.
  • Fluent in both English and Spanish (required).

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze work orders, packaging specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOM); identify and correct discrepancies as needed.
  • Assist the Packaging Manager in overseeing and coordinating daily packaging operations across multiple production lines.
  • Ensure packaging operations meet production schedules, quantity targets, timelines, and quality standards.
  • Monitor compliance with company policies related to materials handling, hoppers, packaging processes, and vehicle loading.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and assist in resolving machine setup issues and equipment malfunctions.
  • Participate directly in daily and weekly packaging planning meetings.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with Planning, Inventory, Quality Assurance, and Maintenance teams.
  • Prepare and submit operational, production, and KPI reports to the Packaging Manager and upper management.
  • Support the supervision and development of packaging supervisors, line leaders, and operators.
  • Serve as Acting Packaging Manager when required (coverage, PTO, or off-shift support).
  • Track KPIs and support the preparation of production and performance reports.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, labor optimization, cost savings, and waste reduction.
  • Support the implementation of new procedures, equipment, and SOP updates.
  • Assist with internal audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
  • Ensure all packaging targets and quality standards are consistently achieved.
  • Ensure operators are properly trained, qualified, and documented on equipment and processes; provide coaching and ongoing support.
  • Enforce compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, sanitation requirements, and GMP guidelines.
  • Maintain effective communication with all relevant departments to ensure smooth operations.
