This is a 3rd Shift (Night Shift) position
Job Summary
The General Maintenance position is an entry-level role and is responsible for assisting with general tasks around the worksite. This role requires minimum prior experience and serves as an introduction to the industry. Under supervision, the helper may assist with minor preventative maintenance tasks and learn basic job functions. The primary objective of this position is to assess the employee's potential for long-term development within the company.
Essential Functions
• Conduct pre-shift and post-shift equipment inspections, lubricate moving parts, and complete scheduled preventative maintenance tasks to prevent component failures.
• Troubleshoot and replace basic mechanical components, including conveyor belts, idlers, pulleys, and water pumps.
• Perform structural repairs, hard facing, and replace heavy wear-parts (such as crusher liners and shaker screens) using welding, cutting, and grinding equipment.
• Strictly adhere to MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) and OSHA regulations, execute Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols, and maintain a hazard-free work area.
• Observe aggregate crushing, washing, and screening areas during operation to identify anomalies by sight or sound and perform minor adjustments.
• Record and maintain service logs, lubrication reports, and maintenance records for plant equipment.

• Technical Expertise -Solid mechanical understanding of mobile equipment, including basic maintenance checks and troubleshooting minor issues. Ability to identify signs of equipment malfunction, understand and report them to the maintenance team.
Responsibilities
Education
• High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
Experience
• Experience in maintenance, preferably within the around heavy equipment and machines.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Basic understanding of workplace safety and the ability to follow safety procedures
• General awareness of tools and equipment used on-site
• Willingness to learn mechanical and maintenance fundamentals
• Exposure to preventative maintenance processes under supervision
Other Requirements
• Entry level mechanic, qualified to perform general utility work and light maintenance under supervision of experienced mechanic.
• Knowledge of using a wide variety of hand and power tools, cutting torches and welding equipment.
• Knowledge of electrical equipment maintenance.
• Safety and compliance with MSHA procedures and requirements.
• A valid driver's license.
Hourly Range. The hourly range for this role is between $26.00 and $38.60. This range is not inclusive of our discretionary bonus or equity package. When determining a candidate's compensation, we consider a number of factors, including skillset, experience, job scope, and current market data.
Shift Differential. At Vulcan Materials Company, Northeast Division, Night Shift employees are paid a Shift Differential of an additional 20% on their base pay if the employee works certain hours during the designated time period. We believe the additional compensation helps to offset the inconvenience of working less desirable hours.
