Job description

Founded in 1979, QEP is headquartered in Boca Raton, Florida. QEP is a leading global provider of high quality, innovative and value-driven flooring installation solutions. QEP manufactures, markets and sells a comprehensive line of installation tools, adhesives, and other flooring-related products for the professional installer and do-it-yourselfer.
Position: Material Handler
Schedule:Monday - Friday; 6:00 am - 2:30 pm and OT as needed
FLSA Status:Non-Exempt
The ideal candidate must have a minimum of two years of order-picking experience and have at least two years of experience operating an electric pallet jack.
Skills Needed:
  • Experienced order picker (2+yrs)
  • Experienced building pallets (case-picking) (2+yrs)
  • Experienced loading and unloading trucks (2+yrs)
  • Can lift up heavy material and be on their feet for 8+hrs.
  • Experience operating industrial equipment such as an electric pallet jack and reach truck. (2+yrs)
  • Associate must wear steel-toe shoes/boots. It is recommended that they bring a refillable water bottle and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.

Responsibilities
  • According to pick ticket, select designated product in the correct quantity and palletize for customer orders.
  • Create and track audit trail of product placement to trace location; locate product within warehouse and place product in designated areas. Expedite immediate request for service from employees pulling orders.
  • Count, weigh, and record number of materials moved or handled.
  • Select items from stick as specified by orders. Wrap, pack, and arrange for shipment; ability to review production/shipping/receiving documentation for accuracy and take corrective actions when errors are located.
  • Read work orders to follow oral instructions to ascertain materials or container to be moved.
  • Maintain constant review of stored material throughout the entire facility; being aware of unsafe stack patterns and making corrections on finding these deficiencies.
  • Ability to accurately perform daily, quarterly or annual cycle counts.
  • Maintains clean and organized facility to include sweeping, trash removal, consolidating pallets etc.
  • Maintain safe work environment including adherence to all safety rules and reporting all accidents, near misses and unsafe conditions to management.

Qualifications:
  • High school education or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to communicate in the English language, both written and spoken.
  • Average ability to work out mathematical calculations, which require extending numbers by using multiplication, division, addition and subtraction.
  • Two to three years related work experience.
  • Ability to lift from floor level to a height of four (4) feet.
  • Must be able to see and to step over obstacles with a height of six (6) inches, and around obstacles of 40'' x 48''.
  • Lift properly. At QEP, you are regularly required to lift and/or move items weighing 50-70 pounds (depending on assignment); up to 100 lbs. occasionally with mechanical aids and team lifting.
  • Must be able to hear forklift and related equipment.
  • Must be able to stand or sit for long periods.
