This position reports to:
Supplier Quality Lead
As a Quality Packaging Specialist, you will collaborate with suppliers to develop and document packaging and returnable transport solutions for large, heavy, and high-value products including internal logistics solutions, and returnable cart systems. You will focus on ensuring the quality of Power Distribution Units (PDU), Static Transfer Switches (STS), and Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) for data centers and critical power applications. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to ABB's commitment to delivering high-quality products and services in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop packaging crates, skids for oversized equipment.
  • Develop returnable carts, racks, and trolleys for internal movement and supplier-to-plant logistics.
  • Designs should be Ergonomic and safe for operators, compatible with forklifts, pallet jacks, and automated systems.
  • Perform structural design for dynamic loads, impact during movement, and long lifecycle usage
  • Standardized cart platforms across product families.
  • Ensure design is compliant with ISPM-15, ISTA / ASTM packaging standards, OSHA safety requirements while developing the solution.
  • Work on optimization projects to reduce costs.

Job Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in heavy-duty packaging design, returnable packaging/cart / rack design
  • Familiar with key industry standards such as ISPM-15, ISTA/ASTM, OSHAS.
  • Need to have knowledge of shipping standards (trailer, container etc...)
  • Knowledge of testing & validation of packaging like drop, tilt & impact tests, vibration & shock simulations, stacking tests.
  • Familiar with CAD tools like Solid Works, AutoCAD.
