A position that is: Hourly, Full-time, Monday - Friday, 1st Shift.

Rotating schedule: 2 weeks as a Shuttle Driver (6:00 AM - 2:30 PM) followed by 1 week as a Yard Jockey (4:30 AM - 1:00 PM)

The CDL Shuttle Driver will have responsibility for acting as a Road Shuttle Driver & Yard Jockey by bringing finished goods or raw material trailers between our warehouses and customers within the metro area. Additional responsibilities include monitoring trailer inventory as well, and some material handler functions such as forklift loading and unloading of trailers within the warehouse. Weekly driving schedule will include rotating into yard driver duties as needed (Team of 3 Rotation).

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Transporting loaded trailer of materials between Ascentek & supplier facilities
  • Moving trailers in and out of dock doors and/or repositioning trailers within parking lot 
  • Maintain trailer inventory and updates on DOT dates as needed
  • Maintain current driver’s license with appropriate endorsements and medical card
  • Comply with DOT hours of service rules and maintain truck operation in full compliance with DOT regulations
  • Utilize driver paper logbooks as needed
  • Operating a forklift and completing warehouse functions

Education: 

  • High School Diploma or GED

Experience/Training:

  • Prefer 2 years driving experience within the last 5 years and excellent customer service skills
  • Prior forklift experience
  • No more than 3 moving violations in the last 36 months or 2 in the last 12 months
  • No DWI or DUI in the past 5 years

Licenses/Certificates:

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) 
  • Current Hazmat and Tanker endorsements, or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe after hire
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid DOT Medical Certificate
  • Clean driving record that meets Ascentek and DOT requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must be able to effectively communicate to maintain positive relations with team members
  • Capable of standing, walking, and repeatedly climbing into and out of truck tractor or forklift several times throughout the day. Ability to lift 50lbs periodically
  • Comfortable using smart devices

    Physical and Mental demands: Physical demands: Employee must have the ability to lift/carry up to 60 pounds occasionally. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit & operate their tractor, crank trailer legs, walk & handle objects. Employees may be subject to random drug and alcohol testing under FAA regulations. The mental requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Comprehend and follow instructions, perform assigned tasks, maintain an appropriate work pace, perform complex or varied tasks, relate to others, make decisions, interact with coworkers & customers.

    Environmental demands: Work in extreme heat (>80 degrees) during summer and extreme cold (<-20 degrees) during the winter while in the yard and warehouse areas. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – safety eyeglasses and safety steel-toe shoes are required. Safety concerns to include heavy products, light and heavy-duty machinery, Tractor trailer, forklifts, working in a congested and high activity warehouse. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an individual encounters while performing the essential functions of this position.

    The anticipated hiring range for the role you are applying for is between $23.00 and $36.00 hourly plus second shift differential. This anticipated hiring range is based on several factors, and subject to increase based on the below:
