What is a PA intern?

PA Interns, or Physician Assistant Interns, are students or recent graduates who are gaining practical experience in the healthcare field under the supervision of licensed physician assistants or doctors. Their responsibilities typically include assisting with patient care, conducting medical histories, performing basic procedures, and learning how to work effectively in a clinical environment. This internship provides valuable hands-on training and prepares them for future roles as certified physician assistants.

What does a PA intern do?

As a PA Intern, you can expect to support physician assistants and other medical professionals with a variety of tasks, such as patient intake, medical history documentation, and basic clinical procedures under supervision. This role offers a valuable chance to observe patient care, participate in team meetings, and gain insight into clinical workflows. Interns often rotate through different departments, which helps build a broad foundation of practical experience and enhances understanding of the PA profession. Close collaboration with experienced practitioners also provides opportunities for mentorship and feedback, essential for professional growth.
