Job description

Job Summary

Henry Company (A Carlisle Company) is a leader in Building Envelope Systems, managing the flow of water, vapor, air and energy from foundation to roof. Our quality products offer designers, contractors and building owners the right solutions for below grade, walls and roofs.

We are looking for a Maintenance Technician to perform maintenance and repairs on production equipment and control systems (e.g., mechanical, electrical, controls and PLCs). Evaluate and recommend equipment improvements to improve efficiency and capability. Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment and control problems. Prepare technical reports to document automation issues.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Preventive Maintenance of equipment, as well as ability to determine and implement new Preventive Maintenance procedures as required.
  • Cleanliness and organizational skills at work site level and maintenance shop.
  • Flexibility in changing job requirements as directed by equipment or process needs.
  • Trouble shooting equipment and/or process skills to define problems and create or offer solutions to repair/replace that are both safe and cost effective.
  • Ability to communicate needs, repair requirements and issues to plant leadership in a clear and concise manner. Good written and verbal skills required. Computer skills a plus.
  • Ability to work with vendors and/or contractors to obtain pricing for parts and equipment.
  • Be a self-starter and be able work to with little or no management supervision. Able to follow directions clearly and concisely.
  • Hours worked: 8-12 hours/shift, varies on shift schedule and business volume.
  • Flexible to the possibility of overtime and weekend hours when required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • You should have a strong background in electrical troubleshooting, repair, and installation of new and existing plant services. In addition, you should have:
  • General knowledge of PLC technology.
  • Mechanical troubleshooting and repair experience in production and plant equipment, including piping experience consisting of cutting, threading, and installations.
  • Experience with pump troubleshooting, rebuilding, repair and replacement.
  • Asphalt plant and processing knowledge is a strong plus.
  • Ability to apply OSHA and Henry safety standards and regulations to everyday applications; Example is Lock out, Tag out, and Try or Confined space.
  • Read and understand electrical schematics, piping, and mechanical drawings and/or blueprints.
  • Electrical applications and processes of motor starter(s), Variable frequency drives, electrical circuits, and electrical panels. Working knowledge 480-3 phase voltage as it pertains to motors and industrial equipment.
  • Pipe fitting and pipe welding
  • Working knowledge of steam boilers and thermal oil heaters, their application(s) and controls.
  • Working knowledge of industrial air compressors and pneumatic piping.
  • Use of electrical, air driven, and manual hand tools and/or equipment
  • Use of arc welders, acetylene torches, and various other open flame equipment
  • Installing and rebuilding progressive cavity, diaphragm, and gear driven pumps.
  • Complete daily, weekly, and monthly check list(s) as required.
  • Interface with and troubleshoot the following motor control equipment properly and safely: motor starters, run relays; Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs); Servo motors and controls.
  • Good oral and written skills.
  • A team player approach and the ability to work well with others.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with PLC programming, troubleshooting, and repair (Allen-Bradley preferred, Siemens, or similar acceptable).
  • Proven experience with HMI control usage and diagnostics.
  • Strong knowledge of automation systems, electrical circuits, control systems, and industrial machinery.
  • Proficiency with electrical test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and PLC diagnostic tools.
  • Computer literacy is a plus.

Education and Experience:

  • Required:
    • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Preferred:
    • 5 to 7 years of mechanical maintenance experience in a manufacturing setting.

Working Conditions:

  • Work from step ladders as well as extension ladders or lifts.
  • Inside and/or outside
  • Operate all hand tools such as drills, grinders, saws, etc.
  • Fast paced manufacturing environment where workers are exposed to both ambient/outside temperatures and dust; working with mechanical parts and pinch points; exposure to increased noise levels.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Used:

  • Eye and hearing protection is required at all times on the production floor.
  • Safety toe shoes (steel/composite) must cover ankle
  • Other PPE as defined by management within assigned department.
