Job description

Math Lead Math Learning Guide (Grades 6โ€“12) Justice Heritage Academy Position Summary Justice Heritage Academy is seeking a Math Learning Guide who believes students learn mathematics through curiosity, mastery, meaningful relationships, and personalized learning. Rather than delivering the same lesson to every student, the Math Learning Guide designs individualized learning experiences, facilitates targeted small-group instruction, coaches students toward independence, and uses technology to personalize learning. Students may be working across multiple grade levels simultaneously, requiring flexibility, strong organizational systems, and a commitment to competency-based learning. The ideal candidate sees themselves as both an educator and a coachโ€”someone who helps students develop mathematical understanding while building confidence, agency, and lifelong learning habits. Primary Responsibilities Personalized Learning Develop individualized math learning plans based on each student's current level, strengths, and goals. Meet regularly with students to review progress and adjust learning plans. Help students establish weekly and quarterly learning goals. Coach students in executive functioning, organization, and self-directed learning. Differentiate instruction to meet a wide range of learning needs and readiness levels. Small Group Instruction Facilitate targeted small-group instruction based on student needs. Provide one-on-one coaching and intervention when appropriate. Design engaging lessons that develop conceptual understanding alongside procedural fluency. Support students as they work independently, helping them persevere through productive struggle. Create opportunities for mathematical discussion, reasoning, and problem solving. Technology-Enabled Personalized Learning Leverage technology to create a personalized, data-informed learning experience for every student. Responsibilities include: Build and manage personalized learning pathways for each student. Use adaptive learning platforms that assess student readiness and recommend next learning experiences. Monitor student progress through real-time dashboards and learning analytics. Review assessment data regularly to identify misconceptions and determine instructional priorities. Assign targeted lessons, practice, and interventions based on student performance. Ensure every student understands their progress toward mastery and next learning goals. Blend independent digital learning with targeted small-group and one-on-one instruction. Experience with platforms such as Zearn, Desmos, Carnegie or similar adaptive learning systems is preferred. Assessment & Progress Monitoring Administer diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments. Maintain an up-to-date learner profile for every student, documenting current skill levels, evidence of mastery, goals, and areas for growth. Use assessment data to create individualized learning plans and adjust instruction. Meet regularly with students to review progress, celebrate growth, and establish next learning targets. Communicate student progress clearly with families through data, portfolios, and narrative feedback. Maintain accurate records of student achievement and mastery over time. Learning Environment Foster a classroom culture where students take ownership of their learning. Build strong relationships that create psychological safety and high expectations. Encourage curiosity, perseverance, collaboration, and mathematical thinking. Help students develop confidence as mathematicians. Maintain an organized, engaging, and flexible learning environment that supports independent work alongside collaborative learning. Collaboration Partner closely with school leadership and fellow educators to support each student's growth. Participate in interdisciplinary planning and problem-solving. Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress. Contribute to the ongoing development of Justice Heritage Academy's personalized learning model. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a related field. Experience teaching middle or high school mathematics. Strong knowledge of secondary mathematics content. Experience differentiating instruction for diverse learners. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Passion for personalized, student-centered learning. Preferred Experience in competency-based or mastery-based learning environments. Experience working in microschools, blended learning, project-based learning, or learner-centered schools. Experience using adaptive digital learning platforms. Experience facilitating advisory, coaching, or mentoring. Colorado teaching license (or eligibility to obtain one).
