Position may be based at any location throughout FPL's service territory in the state of Florida.
Job Overview
Line Specialist will be expected to safely perform all associated tasks with the construction and maintenance of all overhead and underground facilities (excluding vaults, manholes, and hot compounds). They must be able to safely trouble shoot and repair all distribution circuits and equipment. Be able to prepare all associated paperwork.
Line Specialist may work alone or be assigned to work with one (1) person in a lower classification ie: groundman, apprentice, or helper, without direct supervision of a foreman (line, working or lead specialist). Be responsible for working all jobs in accordance with company design standards and work methods.
May be required to work extended hours in inclement weather, may be required to travel throughout the system in cases of emergencies, storms, to restore the system.
Required Qualifications
Minimum requirements for job:
  • Must have completed the FPL apprentice lineman program or another recognized program
  • Must be proficient with live line maintenance, including the use of hot sticks and the FPL gloving procedures
  • Must possess climbing skills
  • Must be able to work in direct sunlight or at night
  • Must be physically able to do all assigned tasks
  • Must have or be able to obtain a valid CDL

Additional requirement to hold a Power Quality Line Specialist position:
  • Must have held and /or worked in the classification of Line Specialist or its equivalent for twenty-four (24) months.

  • Proficient with live line maintenance (gloving) up to twenty three (23) KV and the use of hot sticks for all voltages
