Makwa Global is seeking a Director of Defense Growth to lead strategic growth across the Department of Defense and National Security market. This individual will be responsible for developing and executing customer account strategies, identifying and qualifying opportunities, building strategic relationships, leading capture efforts, and winning new business within the Special Operations, Security Cooperation, and Expeditionary Mission Support markets.


The ideal candidate will possess an established network within the Department of Defense and demonstrated success supporting agencies such as USSOCOM, USASOC, SATMO, MARSOC, Naval Special Warfare Command, AFSOC, DTRA, DSCA, Army Contracting Command, Geographic Combatant Commands, and other organizations supporting overseas operations.


The successful candidate must possess a proven record of identifying opportunities, influencing acquisition strategies, developing customer relationships, and leading successful capture efforts. This position will work directly with executive leadership to develop growth strategies that align with Makwa's long-term objectives and leverage the company's extensive experience supporting overseas training, expeditionary operations, contingency response, security cooperation, and mission support programs.


Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and execute account strategies that support Makwa's strategic growth objectives across the Department of Defense and National Security community.
  • Develop, qualify, and maintain a healthy pipeline of opportunities supporting the agencies above.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with Program Managers, Contracting Officers, Contract Specialists, Small Business Offices, senior military leadership, and industry partners.
  • Identify opportunities with high probability of win and lead qualification, competitive assessments, customer engagement strategies, and capture planning activities.
  • Develop customer call plans and execute regular engagement activities that position Makwa as a trusted mission partner.
  • Lead opportunity shaping activities by leveraging customer relationships, market intelligence, Makwa capabilities, and strategic teaming partners.
  • Develop and present bid/no-bid recommendations, capture strategies, and executive growth briefings.
  • Support proposal development activities including solution strategy, win themes, pricing strategy, competitive positioning, and executive reviews.
  • Negotiate teaming agreements and establish strategic partnerships that strengthen Makwa's competitive position.
  • Monitor procurement forecasts, acquisition strategies, recompete activities, and emerging requirements across assigned accounts.
  • Represent Makwa at customer meetings, industry conferences and professional organizations.
  • Provide executive leadership with regular market intelligence, customer assessments, and strategic growth recommendations.
  • Support responses to Sources Sought Notices, Requests for Information (RFIs), and other market research activities.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum five (5) years of business development, capture management, or strategic account management experience supporting the Federal Government.
  • Demonstrated success identifying, qualifying, capturing, and winning competitive opportunities valued at $10M or greater.
  • Strong understanding of the Department of Defense acquisition process, FAR, DFARS, contract vehicles, and current acquisition trends.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting one or more of the following organizations:
    • USSOCOM
