Position Overview:
We are seeking a results-driven, highly visible ACCOUNT MANAGER to oversee the strategic planning and development of sales within an assigned region. In this role, you will leverage your engineering background and exceptional customer service skills to identify new opportunities, manage existing OEM relationships, and exceed revenue expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Account Management: Maintain and build relationships with existing OEM customers through periodic visits, phone calls, and serving as their primary point of contact to resolve issues effectively.
- Business Development: Identify new opportunities via market research, industry trade shows, and proactive lead generation; set appointments and travel to customer locations to close orders.
- Technical Sales & Demos: Conduct technical presentations for current and potential customers; interpret technical requirements and read schematics.
- Strategy & Forecasting: Collaborate with sales management to execute plans for revenue, profitability, and market share. Maintain a real-time sales forecast and CRM database.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with our engineering and operations teams to ensure market requirements are understood and met.
- Compliance & Safety: Follow all VJX and OSHA workplace safety policies. Note: This is a Safety Sensitive Position.
Job Requirements & Qualifications
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a technical or engineering discipline.
- Experience: 2–4 years of technical sales experience specifically within an OEM environment.
- Track Record: Demonstrated history of successful sales management and meeting/exceeding quotas.
- Travel: Ability to travel both domestically and internationally 30% to 40% of the time (including overnight stays by car and air).
- Technical Capabilities: Ability to read schematics; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and pass a background check and drug screening.
Preferred (Non-Essential) Skills:
- 3 to 5 years of directly related technical sales experience.
- Experience in sales, marketing, or applications engineering within technology industries (instruments, electronics, or capital equipment).
- Familiarity with Salesforce (or other CRM software) and ERP systems.
Physical & Mental Demands
- Regularly required to sit, walk, bend, stoop, and stand within an industrial environment.
- Ability to use hands/fingers to operate office equipment and hand/power tools standard to production.
- Ability to lift, move, and stage materials up to 50 lbs independently (heavier with assistance).
- Must have strong vision abilities (close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception).
- Must be able to work under intensive deadlines, manage multiple concurrent tasks, and maintain a consistent state of alertness.
- Strong communication skills to interface effectively with a wide array of professional disciplines, as well as managing demanding or frustrated customers when necessary.
