Must be able to work overnight!
POSITION SUMMARY
Provide services resulting in the safe and timely delivery of passengers. Means of accomplishing this include, but are not limited to practicing safe and defensive driving; properly maintaining and using vehicle and associated equipment such as radios, step stools; and properly preparing all necessary logs and reports.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
  • Comply with federal, state, and local traffic regulations to operate vehicles in a safe and courteous manner.
  • Carry appropriate means of identification at all times while on duty
  • Check the condition of a vehicle's tires, brakes, windshield wipers, lights, oil, fuel, water, and safety equipment to ensure that everything is in working order.
  • Maintain order among pupils during trips to ensure safety.
  • Pick up and drop off passengers at regularly scheduled, and appropriate, locations while following route and time schedules.
  • Assist passengers with luggage of various sizes
  • Report any bus malfunctions or needed repairs.
  • Communicate to designated staff any issues or needs related to route assignments and passengers transported
  • Prepare and submit reports that may include the number of passengers or trips, hours worked, mileage, fuel consumption, or fares received.
  • Keep bus interiors clean for passengers.
  • Conduct a sweep of the bus at the conclusion of each route both in the morning and the afternoon.
  • Report incidents regarding delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations, using telephones or mobile two-way radios.
  • Write incident reports regarding any student behavior and other safety and security issues that may occur
  • Regulate heating, lighting, and ventilation systems for passenger comfort.
  • Attend review meetings to discuss routes, passengers, equipment, etc.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Must pass pre-employment annual State required physical examination
  • Must pass pre-employment drug test
  • Must maintain a clear driving record (DMVR)

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
Experience: Two years of passenger driving experience or equivalent
Certifications & Licenses: Valid Texas Driver License
