Job description

Job Description: Alarm and Security Technician. Techwise Integrated Security, LLC is looking for a dedicated employee who can take initiative while being detail-oriented to coordinate with Project Managers to install, service and maintain various CCTV, Access Control, Burglar Alarm and Fire systems. Shifts vary from 8-12 hours per day mainly overnight for installation projects for our large commercial retail customers across the state of Virginia and North Carolina. The job requires some heavy lifting, pushing pulling objects up to 50 lbs. Continuous reaching overhead to work in ceilings installing alarm and cx systems. Consists of standing, walking and crouching for most of your shift. You will be out of town for 4 days of the week unless we have local projects; must be willing to travel, it is required. Occasional weekend work dependent on workloads and project deadlines.

Technicians will be scheduled anywhere from Sunday through Friday with hours varying from 8 up to 12 hours per day, depending on workload. Out of town/overnight. There may be some weekend work for Service-related issues.

Work Schedule Requirements: Willingness to travel and work Sunday night through Friday morning. Shifts are 8-12 hours and consist of mainly overnight shifts. Ability to travel throughout the state of Virginia and North Carolina depending on project needs. Location is considered when assigning projects.

Minimum Job Requirements: High school diploma or GED is preferred. 1-2 years’ experience with similar trade work is also preferred. Valid Driver’s License with positive points for operation of company vehicles and travel. Current DCJS Registration (Department of Criminal Justice Services) is Preferred. We will assist with obtaining this license, must be able to pass a criminal background check.

Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements:

  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade for fire and security camera installations.
  • Identify a variety of cameras, wires, cables, hardware and project materials.
  • Running different types of cable (mainly CAT5e) through rings in open and closed ceiling settings.
  • Knowledge of how to use fish tape and glow rods to install cable walls and ceiling is required.
  • Mounting devices to steel, in ceiling tile to both interior and exterior walls using various types of hardware. (ex: toggle bolts)
  • Making penetration into walls and installing flex and conduit with some conduit cutting and bending.
  • Basic Computer skills and tablet use of PC Windows based operating systems and Android Devices.
  • Basic typing skills to ensure accurate entry of service request details, tickets and corresponding work e-mails.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow enforced safety procedures in compliance with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
  • Work will be performed off scissor lifts and ladders.
  • Safety awareness: familiarizes with hazards in work area and how to protect themselves.
  • Ability to coordinate with all management and project managers to install and repair routine maintenance alarm and security systems.
  • Ability to take initiatives to complete project tasks as assigned from management.
  • Strong oral and written Communication (written, verbal and nonverbal).
  • Punctual and reliable attendance to meet project deadlines.
  • Positive, friendly attitude, IMPORTANT customer client mentality.
  • Willingness to learn new technology, materials, repairs and service systems.
  • Willingness to assume and learn new responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Reports any client problems or damage to direct supervisor and management immediately.
  • Basic knowledge of reading blueprints for installation is preferred.
