Overnight Virtual Cpr Instructor information

What is an overnight virtual CPR instructor?

An Overnight Virtual CPR Instructor is a certified professional who teaches cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) techniques to individuals or groups through online platforms during nighttime or overnight hours. They provide instruction, demonstrations, and feedback in a virtual classroom setting, often accommodating students in different time zones or those with non-traditional schedules. This role ensures that lifesaving CPR skills are accessible to more people, regardless of their location or availability.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an overnight virtual CPR instructor?

To thrive as an Overnight Virtual CPR Instructor, you need a current CPR instructor certification (such as from the American Heart Association or Red Cross), strong knowledge of life-saving techniques, and experience in teaching or training. Familiarity with virtual meeting platforms (like Zoom or Webex), online learning management systems, and digital assessment tools is typically required. Excellent communication, patience, and the ability to engage learners remotely are standout soft skills for this position. These skills ensure effective instruction, participant safety, and high-quality learning outcomes during remote, overnight classes.

What are the unique challenges faced by overnight virtual CPR instructors, and how can they effectively manage them?

Overnight Virtual CPR Instructors often encounter challenges such as maintaining student engagement during late hours and addressing technical issues in a remote setting. To manage these, instructors can utilize interactive teaching tools, schedule short breaks to maintain alertness, and ensure familiarity with the virtual platform before each session. Building rapport through clear communication and offering real-time feedback also helps keep participants motivated and attentive, despite the unconventional hours. Effective time management and self-care are key to sustaining performance and enthusiasm in this role.

This is a powerful role for someone who wants to make real change, build strong relationships, and grow in a tech-forward and values-aligned organization.

  • Comfortable working full-time onsite at a DJJ facility
  • Willing to attend professional development, meetings, and trainings
  • Passionate about growth—both for your students and yourself

  • Experience teaching in non-traditional settings or with at-risk youth
  • Strong classroom management and student engagement skills

Tech & Skills You’ll Use

  • Microsoft Suite (Teams, Outlook, Sharepoint)
  • Online grading and learning platforms
  • Digital curriculum tools
  • Basic troubleshooting & digital communication

Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions:

  • Frequency of travel: Daily travel is required to the assigned residential facility. Frequent travel is required for meetings, training, and conferences; location may vary and may require overnight stays.
  • Light physical activities and efforts required working in an office environment

(Reasonable accommodations will be made in accordance with existing ADA requirements for otherwise qualified individuals with a disability.)
